Vote for Name of Pluto Moon

Pluto may have officially been downgraded to a planetoid but in my mind it will always remain as it should, a bonafide planet within the Sol Solar System. Now us common folk can be a part of astronomical history by participating in the naming of one of Pluto's moons.

The S.E.T.I. institute has put up a website which allows anyone to go and vote for a list of names for two newly discovered moons orbiting the tiny planet. These moons, currently titled "P4" and "P5" were discovered by the Hubble Telescope in 2011 and 2012 respectfully.

The list of names to vote on come from the pantheon of Roman and Greek mythology and thanks to actor William Shatner a new name was added just recently - VULCAN. No doubt anyone familiar with Mr. Shatner's long enduring career in show business remembers that Vulcan not only comes from ancient Earth mythology but was also the home planet of Mr. Spock (played by actor Leonard Nimoy) in the Gene Roddenberry creation of Star Trek, the highly successful 40-plus year TV and movie series, which is still going strong today. Shatner played the lead of Captain James T. Kirk in the series and seven films.

To place your vote just click on this link "PLUTO ROCKS." May the force be with while you live long and prosper.

UPDATE: As of 02/26/2013 voting has been completed. The two moons P4 & P5 now have new names - VULCAN & CERBERUS
