The United States of America is a Republic, or more accurately, a Constitutional Republic, but nothing like a Democracy (as was the early government of ancient Greece before the advent of Alexander the Great). This political-philosophical idea was given birth near the close of the Grecian Empire millennia ago and quickly adapted by the burgeoning Roman Empire in its early formative years before any such concept of a one-man rule by what would hundreds of years later be called Caesarean Rule. Under a pure Republic all matters of governance are made public matters open for discussion and review by the general populace whom then relay their ideas, grievance's, praises and demands to their district's duly elected official - known as The Senate in Roman times. Members of the Senate would then bring these issues to the floor before the president of the Senate and laws would be made based on majority vote concerning those issues important to the citizens of Rome. Private matters were dealt with by committees formed by the Senate and led by differing member Senators. Affairs that affected all districts within the Empire were handled in these committees and once a plan (draft of a prospective law) was developed within the committee, the president of the Senate would bring it to the floor for general vote by all Senators. Each would vote according to the dictates of the desires of those citizen living with their particular city or state.
From such a concept was The United States of America forged. In our Republic it is the function and constitutional duty of a duly elected official to try and counteract, change or repeal any laws, ideas and arguments that come from the opposing side if they do not coincide with those desires and ideas of the citizens that elected them in their district and State. This has been going on since day one of the Republic. Therefore, to answer the question of this concerned citizen's inquiry - are Republican's being treasonous? - the answer is a simple no. They are, in fact, doing what their constituents demand of them and what is also demanded of them by constitutional law. Back when the founders were putting together this Constitutional Republic there would be literal knock-down drag out fights and even a few duels between members of opposing sides of an issue, law or idea. In the 21st Century we have become a bit more civilized and just go on the internet, television or a radio radio talk show now and lambast the opposition...., or we elect strong opposition leaders as has been done recently to the consternation of the other side.
The feeling from the citizens that voted these members of Congress into office in 2008, 2010 and again especially in 2012 was that their duly elected president and his executive branch administration have finally gone too far in running rough-shod over the constitutional process and well defined constitutionally mandated separation of powers. While this erosion has been going on for several decades since the end of WWII under presidential administrations on both sides of the political aisle, many citizens of America under this president's wanton use of Executive Orders, handing over of more and more congressional responsibility and power to unelected department heads, presidential appointed czars and his self-imposed changing of laws (something reserved only for the Congress) that the erosion needs to come to an end now before there is no longer any Republic left; but, what will remain is a new rule of governance similar to the fate of Rome when it gave up its Republic for the rule of one man over all - Caesar. Many do not want this for the only light left shining on the hill.
Why aren't more American's upset over this development? Why are so many supporting this blatant disregard for constitutional law and separation of powers? Have Americans become so complacent in our affluence, so immersed in our entertainment and seeking of personal pleasure and leisure, so caught up in our own little worlds that we simply don't care and have been lulled into complete apathy? Or worse, have American's given up on the idea of preserving the very freedom and liberty that has been so hard fought for over the last 227 years?
Will my generation (the baby boomers) be the last to remember what it was like to have once been a free people, one nation, under G-d, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all? Is the Land of the Free now just a passing dream, a fading memory that will forever be gone when the last of my generation takes their final breath?
Missiles were sent off from Syria and exploded in the Golan Heights. It would appear that Israel may not have been the intended party in this attack but is connected to the ongoing civil war within Syria between the government of Bashar al-Assad and rebel troops wishing to overthrow the oppressive Assad regime. However, Israel continues to be the innocent bystander in these mis-targeted attacks and this isn't the first. There been several of these off-target rocket attacks in the Golan Heights region.
Israel, as it has always been for the last 5,000 years, sits strategically between enemies to the north and south, both with a formidable array of missiles destined for Israeli communities. The increased need for more portable bomb shelters continues to be a priority for these smaller outlying towns especially in Southern Israel but also a growing priority in the North with the Syrian rebellion seemingly unstoppable.
If you are a lover of Israel and all its people - Jew, Arab or Gentile - there is something you can do to help with the need for more bomb shelters, particularly since the bombing of Israel is becoming an almost daily event.

Judge Leon found that the NSA in its collecting of information from all phone calls made to and from the United States to be in violation of the most basic elements of that Fourth Amendment and has suggested in his rendering that the spy agency was in all likelihood acting unconstitutionally.
This is good news for all freedom/liberty loving people throughout the country and world. The judge also cited that the agency failed to adequately prove that their surveillance and data collection from all those illegal phone gathering missions failed to demonstrate any viable information that successfully thwarted or head-off any kind of terrorist activity or attack putting the biggest nail in the coffin of NSA’s defense for its activity.
In Judge Leon’s sixty-eight page court opinion after listening to months of testimony he was quite forthcoming in his convicting tone against the NSA. “I cannot image a more indiscriminate and arbitrary invasion than this systematic and high-tech collection and retention of personal data on virtually every single citizen for purposes of querying it and analyzing it without judicial approval.” (bold mine)
Thanks in great part to the revelations of NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden and Judge Leon's decision this is simply the first of many more judicial steps to come related to the NSA’s ongoing illegal data collection activity against its own citizens. What lies in the future will be determined by further court action and those of the reacting general populace.
The most recent news coming out of Israel in these newest round of peace settlement talks being negotiated by United States Secretary of State John Kerry is that they have been accepted by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres but has suddenly been rejected by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. What is his reason(s) behind the rejection? His refusal to allow Israel to maintain a security presence in the Jordan Valley. Earlier in the negotiating it was hinted that Abbas was willing to agree to a temporary agreement on this security issue that would be implemented in stages allowing the Israeli security forces adequate time to ensure all settlements in Palestinian territory were adequately and safely vacated by Israeli inhabitants. Now in these last moments of the treaty signing Abbas has backed out stating that any delay in the removal of security forces and settlements would negate any peace treaty at this time. Abbas also didn't seem to respond to a threat from Secretary Kerry when he was told that the release of PA terrorists prisoners agreed to by Netanyahu would be delayed if Abbas failed to accept this new peace offer.
You would think the Israeli government would be use to this kind of bait-and-switch game from the PA. It has been the modus operandi of the Palestinian leadership for decades, however, at the insistence of the United States overlords, each Israeli PM continues to play the game right along with the Palestinians and act upset and surprised when it all falls apart at the last second. It may be time to stop the games and force Abbas' hand once and for all, however, to do this would likely further sever the already tautly hurt ties between the Israeli government and the Obama Administration and I'm not too sure Netanyahu is willing to cut that chord just yet.
So, where does that leave the current situation of peace/no peace between Israel and Palestine? Right back where it has always been and will likely stay for the near future - a very fragile stalemate that could erupt into a full scale conflict at the slightest misunderstanding from either side.
I'm not sure what title, if any, the cartoonist gave this piece of ludicrousness but I have subtitled it "Exaggeration To The Level of Absurdity." Why? What is the difference between how this cartoonist sees events in that part of the world and the way I view them? The explanation is quite easily seen when one comes to understanding the difference between Israel's worldview and that of Iran. Israel has, despite the declaration of the opposite from its leadership, had nuclear capability for years and has never sought to use it or brag about how it would use it to exterminate its neighbors. Iran, on the other hand, doesn't even have the capability yet but is on the verge of developing its first viable nuclear weapon. What has Iran been doing very publicly? It has already boasted loud and clear for all the world to hear how its first significant event and use of their fine new fissionable toy will be the total destruction of the State of Israel.
The cartoonist, and all those who have his/her frame of reference have a misguided idea and definition of terrorism. Terrorism isn't having a weapon of mass destruction or even the will to use it. On the contrary, terrorism is the open threat to use such a weapon against another or the actual carrying out of such a threat. Something Iran is currently stating it will do.
The cartoonist, and sadly, many in the Obama Administration and international political leadership don't view Iran's acquisition of a nuclear device as the danger but feel they can contain the Iranian government from ever using it because they all overlook one very important point - they believe Iranian leadership are as level-headed about survival as the rest of the nuclear arsenal nations on the planet - and that is their flawed weakness and Iran's strength.
Again this cartoon is absurdity in the extreme.
For those who may think that I have mistaken the Palestinian flag for Iran should realize that in the real world Gaza, Lebanon and Syria are nothing more than puppet states and Iranian terror support outlets of Hamas and Hezbollah for the main Iranian goal of eliminating the Jewish State out of existence. The small rockets being lobbed into Israel from Southern Lebanon, from the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights on a nearly daily basis can easily one day be implemented with an Iranian nuclear device once they have that capability....and, you can be assured.....they will try.
The music can be heard all over the world as blue and white pride is expressed by Jews in every corner of the globe.
“Hanukkah oh Hanukkah, come light the Menorah…
Hanukkah oh Hanukkah will all dance the Horah…
Gather around the table, will give you a treat…
Lots of tasty chocolates and latkes (potato pancakes) to eat…
Hanukkah oh Hanukkah, come light the Menorah…”
The Festival of Lights is upon us as the celebration of the Maccabees is lived from sundown on Wednesday, November 27 until sundown on Thursday, December 5th.
Happy Chaka Khan! Time to break out the Dreidels (spinning tops) and spin them faster than an ultracentrifuge.
Every year brings something different, and 2013 brings “Thanksgivingukkah.” Normally Hanukkah is celebrated around the time of Christmas or slightly earlier. It sometimes even stretches past New Year’s Day. This year it begins before Thanksgiving for the first time since 1888. This convergence between Thanksgiving and Hanukkah will not occur again for almost another 78,000 years. For the linguistically challenged, both spellings of the holiday have eight letters. Adding a “C” requires subtracting a “K.” It is Chanukah or Hanukkah.
Regarding the holiday itself, some myths need to be dispelled. People hear that the Jewish fighters only had enough oil for one day, and miracle of miracles, the oil magically lasted for eight days. This is the warm, fuzzy, sanitized story told to children.
Hanukkah in actuality is the Jewish version of July 4th. It is a Neocon holiday. The Jews battled some Greeks and crushed them.

With the recent diplomatic cave-in at the Geneva conference this past week which has given Iran just about everything it wanted without any real need to prove their nuclear slow-down capabilities the tiny nation of Israel has been placed in what it considers a no-win scenario (a.k.a. The Samson Protocol) for them and the entire region.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is now left with very few viable options. He can back-off and cow-tow to his American overseers and accept the few morsels that fall from its table; it can rebel against its fair weather friends in the U.S. and Europe and strike Iran hard and fast, or, it can negotiate with other regional enemies of the Iranian State. The problem with the last choice is many of Iran’s enemies in the Middle East loathe Israel even more. That being said it must be noted that Israel and Saudi Arabia may be close to a self-defense pact between the two nations that would call on each to defend the other in case of an Iranian attack on either.
Perhaps as an indicator of the direction the P.M. is seriously considering was Netanyahu’s statement to his own cabinet once the Geneva talks fell flat. ”Today the world became a much more dangerous place because the most dangerous regime in the world made a significant step in obtaining the most dangerous weapons in the world.” Netanyahu was also quick to remind anyone listening, including his so-call friends in the White House that since Israel, and others in the region, are not bound by this “historic mistake,” if necessary Israel would go it alone and “defend itself by itself.”
I have learned over the years that Benjamin Netanyahu doesn’t make idle threats. If this one is intended to be understood that Israel would take all necessary action against a nuclear Iran, you can take that to the bank and cash the check.
In recent months the United States State Department has gone out of its way to try and make Israel look like the bad guy during these ridiculous Geneva talks. One has to question why, when the sanctions have been working so well, would the Obama Administration be so keen on relieving Iran’s burden now, knowing full well it will get no real assurances that can be counted upon that the terror supporting regime in Iran will stop going after its own nuclear device. Why does President Obama seem dead-set on backing its only real ally in the region into a non-negotiable, non-acceptable corner in which the only way out is a deadly strike by Israel upon Iran? Is this what America wants? To allow Israel first strike and leave America and Russia to sort out the clean-up details later? If so, then the current administrations in the White House and the Kremlin are true amateurs and playing the deadliest of chess games that may well end in world conflagration. What they fail to appreciate is for Israel this is no game - it is life and death - and Israel never plays to loose -- Never!
An open letter to President Obama
Dear President Obama
You strike me as the sort of man who spends a lot of time staring at his own reflection. I wonder, what do you see when you gaze so admiringly at yourself? What image do you find in that mirror of yours? Let me guess: a graceful Greek god with a golden crown, draped in luxurious robes, perched on a giant, magnificent throne atop a mountain in the sky? You see a throng of angels singing your praises and masses of subservient peasants prostrated before you, trembling with fear and awe? You see a man who is more than a man, and a president who transcends the presidency; you see a historic figure of immortal importance?
Yeah, that’s what I thought, and I can’t blame you, Mr. President. By all accounts, you’ve always been an arrogant, haughty narcissist — and that was before you became president. Your supporters and your enemies may argue over whether you descended from heaven on the back of a Pegasus, or were birthed from the bowels of Hell to bring about a Biblical apocalypse, but they both agree on one thing: you are a figure of great significance and immense power. You are either the anti-Christ or the Second Coming, with no room for anything in-between. Surely, this talk might cause even a humble man to slip into a state of vanity and pride, so I can only imagine what it must do to a man such as yourself, already so aloof and so conceited.
That’s why I’m writing this letter. My impression of you is quite different, and it has only been solidified by your performance during this shutdown/Obamacare debate. I find you to be a very small man, Mr. President. Far from larger than life, you are petty, frivolous, pathetic; sneering and pompous but also trifling and narrow. I don’t mean to dismiss or underestimate the damage you have done to this nation — it has certainly been profound and lasting — but I want you to know that your legacy will not be one of grandeur and brilliance; it will be the legacy of a shameless, desperate bully. Both your opponents and your proponents hoist you up as a world leader with a grand vision, whether benevolent or malevolent. I, on the other hand, believe you have the vision of a temperamental two year old. You simply want to feel like you’re in control; you want to “win,” you want everybody in the room to pay attention to you, and you’ll stomp your feet and whine until you get your way. You govern like a coddled toddler; it’s inappropriate to pejoratively refer to you as a “dictator,” but only because it lends you a certain unwarranted credibility. I think you wish to be a dictator, but instead you’re just a bumbling bureaucrat; easily replaced and even more easily forgotten. You have the ethics of Genghis Khan, but the leadership skills of Michael Scott. This is why we are forced to witness the spectacle of, for instance, our president brazenly threatening to invade another nation for no reason, only to clumsily abandon the idea after being publicly spanked by Putin.
Your legacy, Mr. President, will be defined by small, shameful things, as your presidency has been primarily a succession of small, shameful things. The platitudes you spouted during your campaign — the theatrics, the pomp, the hype — have all faded. Replaced by the scheming partisan machinations that have come to define your tenure.
Every president has a moment that encapsulates their time in office; your moment, Mr. President, happened this week. Sure, future generations will look at you with mockery and scorn because of bigger scandals — Benghazi, the IRS targeting conservatives, Obamacare, the birth control mandate and your attacks on religious liberty, spying on journalists, arming terrorists overseas, Fast and Furious, the green energy scams, the bailouts, your support for infanticide, the billions you’ve given to the abortion industry, your cowardice in refusing to address the Gosnell murders, your reckless exploitation of the Zimmerman trial, the out of control deficit spending, your refusal to enforce immigration laws, the massive expansion of the Welfare State, the lies, the broken promises, etc — but I think, in an understated way, what you’ve done this week is a better microcosm of your entire reign.
I’m not just referring to the fact that you are peddling the lie that “Republicans” have “shutdown the government,” when, in fact, they have attempted to pass several bills that would fund the government. Mr. President, you tell these fables to the trained seals in the media and your voting base, but you know damn well that any American with a capacity for critical thought will roundly reject this absurd narrative. YOU have chosen to “shut down” the government because you have made Obamacare the ultimate priority. You have said, “Obamacare or nothing,” and then accused Republicans of being the “hostage takers.” They are holding the government hostage by trying to fund it? What a silly idea. But then, you are a silly, ridiculous president. Speaking of which, this takes us right to your defining moment: barricading memorials and monuments in a ploy to win an argument.
Comparatively insignificant when stacked up against your war crimes and constitutional infringements, but it is nonetheless an apt illustration. The Lincoln Memorial is just a giant statue. There isn’t any reason why people shouldn’t be able to look at a statue during a government shutdown. In past shutdowns, the memorials were open, with only the information centers closing down. The Lincoln Memorial has never been completely closed off from the public until now. You have decided to spend money to block and guard open-air monuments, when it would be cheaper, require less staff, and be less onerous to simply leave them be. Is this some sort of bizarre punitive measure against the American taxpayer?
Infamously, you even attempted to stop WW2 veterans from visiting the WW2 memorial. That memorial is mostly privately funded, and is open 24 hours a day. You SPENT MONEY to physically guard the monument from a group of elderly war veterans. This is truly unprecedented. We have had horrible presidents in the past, but none quite so shallow, cheap and contemptible. You tried to close down Mt. Vernon, which is privately funded, but had to settle for closing its parking lot — even though the parking lot requires no immediate on-going maintenance or surveillance from any federal workers. Did you have to shut down the Normandy cemetery and memorial? Are we saving money that way? I doubt it.
It’s the same game you played during the sequester, and it comes as no surprise to those of us who pay attention (which means it came as a surprise to a large number of people). Rather than leading like a statesman, you hide in the shadows; scheming, conniving, exploiting. You emerge only to make hyper-partisan speeches, with rhetoric best left to Democratic talking heads on afternoon cable news shows. Far from being a “new kind of politician” (as you were advertised), you are the most political politician this country has ever seen. You are political to your core, in your essence, at an atomic level, and so you are unable to offer any direction or clarity when the nation needs it most. Sometimes, Mr. President, the affairs of this nation require a man, not a politician, and it is during those times that you are especially useless. You don’t have any interest in fixing our present crisis because you’re too busy finding ways to keep a busload of 90 year old war veterans from looking at a memorial.
Closing down parks, monuments and memorials just to score political points is hardly your most insidious deed, but it’s certainly one of your pettiest. That’s why it stands, ironically, as a monument of its own. If we ever build a statue of you, Mr. President, you won’t be triumphantly holding a flaming torch like Lady Liberty, or standing authoritatively with a look of determination, like the MLK memorial. No, it will be a statue of you pulling the wings off of a fly, or spitting in someone’s orange juice. It will show you in your essence, as monuments are meant to do. It will show you as a petulant, skulking, juvenile bully. It will show you as you are.
And we’ll make sure it’s always open, especially during a government shut down.
As a result of the Affordable Healthcare Act (ACA - a.k.a. ObamaCare) since October 1, 2013 over 5 million policy holders have had their insurance coverage canceled. Literally thousands of medical physicians within the UnitedHealth Group have been dropped. Most of those doctors were responsible for the geriatric care of the nation’s growing baby boomer elderly clientele. Premium costs have risen by as much as 65% instead of declining in price as the president and his signature law promised. The October 1 online roll-out of the .gov website was a total disaster leaving virtually millions without access to healthcare coverage signage. Even during Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Kathleen Sebelius testimony on Capitol Hill the .gov site crashed after just a few thousand hits.
One of the most shocking revelations to come out of all this ObamaCare mess was the story about the persons on the other end of that telephone and website hired by the Fed to accumulate your private information for the ACA coverage. Called Navigators, many of those hired as Navigators were known criminals, hackers, and persons of interest deemed privacy act security risks. Add to that the fact that the HHS still hasn’t completed an end to end security check of the system; this with the Navigator fiasco opens up the government website to just about every kind of security risk imaginable.
The newest development about the ACA comes from America’s college campuses, specifically those colleges geared toward the education of minority students. It now appears that the ACA regulations have caused several colleges to cancel their student health insurance plans leaving many of their students uninsured and without any kind of healthcare coverage all, which is the exact opposite of what President Obama stated publicly his plan would do. This, along with his lie about those who like their policies can keep them, your rates will lower not increase and that it was secure should spell the soon demise of this horrendous law that should have never left the congressional floor in its current state in the first place.
This past week the House of Representatives passed a stopgap measure with at least 39 Democratic Representatives fleeing the Obama camp and voting Yay. This new bill will temporarily allow those who have received cancelation notices for their insurance to continue with their current coverage for a little more than a year. Temporary is right. Right now, while the momentum is moving in the correct direction, the House and Senate need to move forward with more than this band-aid to the ACA’s effects on American healthcare. However, if Republicans want to trip themselves up and have everything turn back in the President, Pelosi and Reid direction then keep sending spokespersons out there before the press and gloat over this short-time victory. Keep using lame words like, “this is a lemon” of a law. Stop playing politics with this. The ball is back in the right’s court. Plan a better strategy then “I told you so!”
I heard one reporter spell it out correctly. She said that the president got it wrong when he underestimated the intelligence of the American people and overestimated the willingness of the press to continue carrying his water for ObamaCare. She was 100% right on this assessment and except for the Obama Network (MSNBC) nearly every other legitimate news gathering agency have started reporting on how the president and his administration have been misleading the American public for at least three years on the real effects of the ACA on citizen’s health care and their pocket books.
That one important element is another chunk of freedom harvested out of the hands of the individual citizen of the United States of America. It is the old frog in the pot scenario. Put a frog in a boiling pot of water and it will jump out immediately. However, place the frog in a cool, relaxing pot of water and gradually increase the flame under that pot and the frog will acclimate itself to the change until it is pot-boiled to death without so much as a twitter to jump out. That is exactly what the ACA and lots of other types of legislation that has come out of Washington D.C. over the last two decades has been designed to do, slowly acclimate a growing uninformed, uninterested public into accepting whatever comes to them from the hands of the federal government and seeing it as a beneficent provider for their well being, health, happiness and life. You know, the exact thing that the Constitution of the United States, The Bill of Rights was suppose to allow the individual to do for themselves - not the government. Those documents were designed to keep the government at bay so as to allow each person individually to go out and seek their life, liberty and pursuit of happiness without fear of federal intervention preventing them from that great calling.
There have been lots of different laws that have come out of Washington over the years that have curtailed such endeavors, particularly going back to Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt. However, the greatest threat to personal freedom came at the hands of George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress during his eight year tenure as president. That piece of legislation dealt a huge blow to liberty and took the biggest bite ever recorded out of the founder’s idea - The United States Constitution. That law is known as The Patriot Act. After the devastating attacks on this nation on September 11, 2001 people were devastated and looked to their leaders for direction and guidance only to be handed the biggest pair of handcuffs to personal liberty and freedom this nation had ever experienced in its nearly 300 year history.
The second most disturbing piece of legislation came out of the Barack Obama administration known as The Affordable Healthcare Act. I believe it will prove to be the final big nail in the coffin of the kind of freedom expressed by the founders of this great experiment called America. We are quickly learning that it is neither affordable nor does it provide for adequate, acceptable healthcare. It is in fact just another in a long line pieces of clap-trap from Washington D.C. to synchronize and harness more power around the Fed, particularly the Executive Branch of government to control one of the most basic needs of human existence, access to medical treatment.
If you choose not to participate in ACA and have no other "acceptable" insurance, then you are fined, or as the Supreme Court called it, "taxed" by the government for not taking advantage of the ACA. This sounds a lot like arm twisting from the Fed to me. If I choose not to be covered I get taxed for that decision instead of left alone to my own devices. Big Brother always knows what is best for each and every individual and if you don't comply - Big Fine. Or, god forbid, at some time down the road as we give more and more power to one branch of this government, they don't FINE but APPREHEND for non-compliance.
There are those who would argue that the ACA simply requires the individual to become a responsible citizen by forcing them to acquire at least some form of acceptable coverage so as to lift the burden from society as a whole from picking up the tab left behind by them when they get free healthcare on the dime of those who have insurance. Sounds benign and benevolent enough on the surface. However, the ACA doesn't require a person to become responsible by obtaining healthcare, it fines one to do so. And, if, as it surely will, the current small fine doesn't compel more to sign up then the fines will gradually become steeper and steeper until it becomes apprehension and imprisonment for being an irresponsible enemy of the State by not participating in a Fed run program designed by our benevolent overseers to better humankind and society as a whole.
Still others argue quite effectively that the ACA offers good healthcare and why would anyone forgo such a great plan. Good healthcare before ACA meant people got and paid for the exact kind of coverage they needed and nothing more or less.
There are those now losing their adequate health insurance coverage as a result of what the ACA calls inadequate coverage by those polices. This will force countless thousands, even millions onto the ACA rolls or cause them to have to purchase more expensive private insurance that would be acceptable to the ACA criteria. The ACA one-size-fits-all coverage really equals paying for coverage not needed by many after they lost coverage sufficient to cover all an individual's covered needs. ACA includes unneeded coverage for many, such as maternity care, birth control care, child care, etc. For those who need that and can afford it under the ACA, that’s fine and dandy. For those who don't and can find what they need on the open private enterprise market at a better price, they should be allowed to purchase it without fear of losing it due to ACA law. It's called freedom of choice, free enterprise capitalism at work - the bases of a free economy that has driven the financial success of this nation for almost 300 years.
If someone needs all that the ACA offers but can find it on the open market at less cost to them then they too should be allowed to purchase that policy without fear of interference from the ACA law. That too is called free enterprise capitalism.
If someone doesn't want any coverage then the only law that should be changed is the Tort laws that state emergency rooms cannot turn away those coming into it for non-emergent care without adequate medical coverage. If not being covered was the free will choice of the citizen then they should be issued a government card that states such which frees the medical facility and its staff, the government and the courts from any claim brought forth by said citizen because they were refused care that would have been provided for them by the government ACA law. Sometime a person simply needs to be held accountable for the choices they make freely and without regress. That too is an individual's right and freedom. It's called freedom to choose.
The greatest reason the ACA is wrong and a great attack on individual freedom is that it forces people to become a part of it or pay a fine and then without Tort reform those who pay the fine still can get free healthcare from any ER across the country, which defeats the proposed purpose of the ACA legislation, which was to help bring down healthcare costs. It should simply be one of many options open to the American public. It's like someone said - If the ACA was such a good thing then there would be no need to have to force it on the public. Just offer it as another free choice which is what a free society expects from its elected government.
Perhaps there are those who get some kind of false sense of security by nestling in the arms of the Federal system, however, I am not one of those. Why? Because the downside is always greater than the up and nothing is free but always has a price tag in the end that almost always becomes chains. It's the ole frog in the pot scenario all over again.
How many times must we ignorant human beings keep trudging down this soggy road until we finally wake up to these same old tactics of control of the masses?
2. He really didn't read his signature plan and had absolutely no idea what he has fostered onto the American people until now.
3. Isn't really in charge of anything or anybody but is simply the mouthpiece, the liaison, the puppet, the facade, the cardboard mannequin, the front-man for more sinister elements behind the throne who only knows what he is told to speak, sign and address.
4. He really knows he is lying, doesn't care that he is lying and will continue lying because it has served him so well throughout his entire life.
Anyone of these FOUR are dangerous to the health and future of this Republic.
"I met Secretary Kerry right before he leaves to Geneva. I reminded him that he said that no deal is better than a bad deal. That the deal that is being discussed in Geneva right now is a bad deal. It’s a very bad deal. Iran is not required to take apart even one centrifuge. But the international community is relieving sanctions on Iran for the first time after many years. Iran gets everything that it wanted at this stage and it pays nothing. And this is when Iran is under severe pressure. I urge Secretary Kerry not to rush to sign, to wait, to reconsider, to get a good deal. But this is a bad deal--a very, very bad deal. It’s the deal of a century for Iran; it’s a very dangerous and bad deal for peace and the international community." -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
I am sure Secretary Kerry and President Obama will simply shirk-off the Prime Minister's legitimate concerns over this current strategy coming out of the Oval Office of cutting back on Iranian sanctions without any capitulation on the part of Iran's nuclear ambitions. The Obama Administration has never been open to constructive criticism from anyone outside their very closed, tightly-knit ranks. If this deal moves forward unaltered, it will eventually cost the United States, Israel and everyone living in that region of the world a very high cost and leave Iran laughing in derision at the toothless power of the West.
Before reading a letter that Captain Hestilow wrote to Texas Senator John Cornyn it is important we get to know a little bit about the man behind these frightening insights he reveals in the letter.
Captain Hestilow is now retired after spending 30 years of his life dedicated in military service to the protection of the United States Constitution. He has served on a war footing in Vietnam right up to Afghanistan. Was honorably retired from military service after three decades of service and continues defending the nation through enlightening the public of serious domestic arms build-up by the DHS. In a self-describing summary on his LinkedIn business page Captain Hestilow writes of himself:
Mission oriented Christ centered patriot committed to the United States Constitution as written and the preservation of the foundations, institutions and moral values upon which the United States was established. Recognizing that these as the means by which the United States has become the greatest and most benevolent nation the earth has known and through which it has prospered, my objectives continue to reflect that of a political Constitutional Conservative committed to republican government, an honest understanding of history and the preservation of free market principles.
His supporters hail him as a modern day Paul Revere sounding the early alarm while detractors have called him everything from that crazy Tea Party guy to even questioning some of his service as outlined on his Army Officer's 2-1, or a 30 year military man with an unremarkable career. I had spent over a decade in military service starting with the Vietnam era and only those who had never served a day in their lives in the service would call any person's combat years as "unremarkable" is already suspect in my mind when it comes to evaluating the success or failure of one's military life.
Captain Hestilow served this country with distinction and honor for nearly all his adult life. He saw things going on behind the scenes and with this current administration and the DHS that have given him great pause, so much so, that he was willing to question the leadership of the very country he dedicated his life of service to. That should automatically give him your undivided attention as he laid out this concern to his duly-elected Senator from his home State of Texas.
The Honorable Senator John Cornyn, State of Texas
United States Senate
517 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510 Re: Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and that agencies preparation for war against citizens of the United States of America.
Dear Senator Cornyn,
It is with gravest concern that I write to you today concerning the recent appropriation of weapons by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that can only be understood as a bold threat of war by that agency, and the Obama administration, against the citizens of the United States of America. To date, DHS has been unwilling to provide to you, the elected representatives of the People, justification for recent purchases of almost 3,000 mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) armored personnel carriers, 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition (with associated weapons), and other weapons systems, when, in fact, the DHS has no war mission or war making authority within the limits of the United States of America.
Significant is the fact that at the same time the Obama administration is arming his DHS for war within the limits of the United States against the People of the United States in accordance with his 2008 campaign speech claiming,
“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve gotta (sic) have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded [as the United States military]”--Candidate Barack Obama, 2008.
the Obama administration is deliberately defunding, overextending, and hollowing the Department of Defense; the only legitimate agency of the U.S. government with a war mission.
This act of the Obama administration stands as a glaring threat of war against our nation’s citizens! This act of the Obama administration can only be understood as a tyrannical threat against the Constitution of the United States of America! If left unresolved, the peace loving citizens who have sworn to defend the United States Constitution “against all enemies, both foreign and domestic” are left no option except to prepare to defend themselves, and the U.S. Constitution, against this Administration’s “coup” against the People and the foundations of liberty fought for and defended for the past 238 years. We have no choice if we honor our oaths.
The only proper response to this threat against the American people is for the representatives of the People, the members of the U.S. House and Senate, to demand in clear terms that the Administration cannot ignore, that the Department of Homeland Security immediately surrender their newly appropriated weapons of war to the Department of Defense (DoD). Further, since the DHS has assumed a position in the Administration to enforce the tyrannical acts of this president against the People of the United States against the limits of the United States Constitution, it remains for the United States Congress to exercise its limiting power in the balancing of powers established by our founding fathers, to disestablish and dissolve the DHS as soon as possible. One needs only to look to the rise of Adolf Hitler, and his associated DHS organizations, the SA and the SS, of 1932-1934, to see the outcome of allowing an agency of government this kind of control over the free citizens of a nation. The people of Germany could not have imagined, until it was too late, the danger of allowing a tyrant this kind of power. We must not be so naïve as to think it will not happen to us as well if we remain passive toward this power grab by the Marxist Obama administration!
Finally, for more than two centuries the nation has lived in peace at home because of the protections of our legitimate military and the many appropriate state and federal law enforcement agencies, supported by Constitutional courts. We stand today at a cross-road. Will we allow this present Administration to overthrow our United States Constitution and its legal processes to amend injustices, or, will we honor our obligations to defend the Constitution against a “domestic” enemy? Our Constitution lays out the proper methods of resolving our differences; and it does not include its overthrow by a rogue agency of a Marxist leadership at home. You, sir, are our constitutionally elected agent to defend our Constitution at home. We are counting upon you. We remain aware, however, of this present threat and will not expose ourselves as an easy prey to the authors of the destruction of our nation.
I know that this letter demands much of you. We elected you because we, the citizens of the State of Texas, believe that you are up to the task at hand and will, against all threats, honor your oath and office. We are also writing to your fellow members of the House and Senate to stand in integrity with the Constitution and against this present threat by the Obama administration and his DHS.
We refuse to surrender our Constitution or our nation!

"You see the president, you think about the policy and you know it's a disaster. And the problem for the Democrats is, they are hostage to a bunch of geeks working right now late into the night trying to fix a system which is not just the glitches we talked about. The architecture, the underlying structure of it is wrong." "I think the likelihood of it being fixed, working like you would expect from any normal commercial private website normally by December 1 is pretty small. And the pressure on the White House will become irresistible. If it isn't up and running smoothly and perfectly, they're going to start with postponements and then the whole thing starts to unravel."
Just recently I was brought to task by one of those amateur pundits on all the above with such non-sustainable rhetoric as, the president is insulated against the moves of such agencies as the NSA and IRS...Fast and Furious has been laid to rest and was originally a Bush program...it's a lie that many people are losing their current insurance plans or that their rates will increase as a result of The Affordable Healthcare Act, a.k.a. ObamaCare; and who cares about Benghazi anymore, not even the Republicans on the Hill are any longer concerned over it..etc., etc. and blah, blah blah.
To these and other such rhetorical quips coming from my left-sided friends I have only a short, albeit, I hope more rational and substantiatable response.
Believe it or not I awarded a few years in my younger days to be a vital part of the intelligence gathering community spending several years in remote, out of the way locations across the globe and right in the States as well doing what our fine men and women of that honorable service have always done, protecting this nation's most vital assets, information and personages from undue foreign and domestic harm and intrigue. While it has been a few years since those days much of what I did is still classified and I will go to my grave carrying it closely to by breast until I can at last spill my beans to my great Creator - provided of course He, She or It has the proper security clearance.
That all being said unless things have drastically changed since my intel days, something as illegal as phone-tapping or reading the emails of private citizens always had to come from the top dog or we wouldn't adhere. If it didn't come from the Oval we simply referred to plausible denial. In other words we never saw or heard about it. I hope like hell we haven't gotten that lax here lately and if I know the NSA's dubious rep for CYA (Cover Your Own Ass), it hasn't.
As to those other issues mentioned above they are not Fox News Talking Points, as much as the MSNBC Talking Points and other left-leaning pundits wish it were. It is very much still in the mainstream thoughts and topic of conversation in middle-voting America. You know those types - the hard working, blue collar, foundation element of the American citizenry which still bear the title of the silent majority.
For anyone to say that Fast and Furious was just an extension of a GW Bush program is the worst of all cop-outs. Obama was supposed to be the president of Change. He certainly didn't change that. Why not? Oh, and nobody died under the Bush program. Just got lucky I guess, or perhaps it was better management since it was Vice President Dick Cheney's baby and not Attorney General Eric Holder's. Either way I didn't support it under either administration. The one Bush program I did support was removing terror combatants to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. That is another of those Bush programs that Mr. Obama didn't change and continues to foster, however, the left isn't too keen on reminding everyone about that one.
When it comes to The Affordable Healthcare Act (ACA) the left claims every time anyone brings up the Obama lies or reminds us of the websites continuing disaster they simply are using these to bring down the program because it is a law they on the right never liked, wanted or supported anyway. While that is certainly true it doesn't change the facts of what those doing so are bringing to light. If anyone is spouting rhetorical BS as it relates to the ACA it is those in rabid support of it and its creator, President Barack Obama. What you will never hear from those types are these facts - not talking points - but literal, by-the-numbers facts is as of November 4, 2013 alone the actual number of health insurance policy cancellation notices due to the ACA has been 3,697,300. Let me spell that out for those who have a hard time reading numbers - three million, six hundred and ninety seven thousand and three hundred cancellation notices have gone out to current policyholders because their preferred coverage doesn't meet with ACA's standard of coverage..you know things like maternity care, birth control coverage; those things everyone over 50 years of age will need. The ACA is a one size fits all coverage which is standard fare for government inclusionary systems. If you wish to forgo then your premiums will increase by again here comes some actual numbers, depending on your age and location - from 24 to 65%. Is this what an elderly couple barely in the middle class on a fixed retirement income or a young couple just starting out and paying off those horrendous student loans need from their government in this struggling economy? If they don't currently have healthcare after these facts become known to them then they certainly will after, especially those over 50 with a weak heart. All the above numbers can be verified and are available in print via multiple news sources such as CBS News, Kaiser Health News, The Washington Examiner, Philadelphia Business Journal, Fox Business and CNBC - just to name a few of the more "reputable" sources.
Perhaps those on the left and those who will love Obama to the grave can let Benghazi slide so easily from their memory banks. I know the president and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appreciate that kind gesture on their part. But most, again, the hard working middle class, middle America voters haven't and aren't likely to do so anytime soon. It is a sticking point especially to the military class, many of them high ranking officers in the corps with some holding ranks of General or Admiral who have even lost their jobs by voicing their displeasure over their Commander in Chief's decision to have left those men hung out to murder. Of course, the Pentagon, for instance, is denying that General Ham was removed for his outspoken remarks over Benghazi but as one of many who served with the Armed Forces for well over a decade I know that except for extreme circumstances a commander is not relieved in the midst of a highly important exercise except under dire circumstances - which is exactly what happened with General Ham and Admiral Gaouette - almost immediately after their disapproving comments. There were no dire reasons at that time and it is highly unlikely that it was a circumstantial occurrence of events for both men. Those of us familiar with the military know exactly what happened here. They pissed off the president, their boss, by outing him publicly. While I understand, as I am sure they did too, the repercussions for such action, I say, thank G-d for men of honor like these great military giants.
That should about cover it for now. I'm sure there will likely be more coming my way since Barry's avid supporters don't like it when their man is left looking bad...So, I'll be standing my post.
Bongino left the Service to try and counter the negative effects of the amateur hour taking place on the Hill and the White House by running for Congress to try and battle the problems from the inside. He appears in this video on Glenn Beck’s The Blaze.
Check out this eye-opening look inside the Oval Office from someone who was there nearly every day.
Don't feel bad. You're not the first to have fallen for the cardboard figure with a soothing, genteel voice, a gaining smile and statuesque pose. Many, many have been there before you and it's likely there will be many to come somewhere down the road. I understand. You wanted the dream, regardless of the reality.
You wanted the false hope, afterall, any hope is better than none at all. Right? It too is better than actually having to put in the hard work and time needed to make real change. You liked the tingly feelings he gave you as you gazed upon his magnificence standing before those ivory pillars of greatness. Don't fret. Every school-girl and boy crush starts that way. If all goes according to plan that crush becomes a courtship. Then there is the actual wedding, again, a glorious affair where hopes are high and the future, at least in your own mind, looks bright and promising.
But, then there is the everyday life of marriage, responsibitlity and you soon learn that your dream lover is really a two-timing liar who sold you a bill of goods and you fell for it tooth and nail. It's not because the signs weren't always there for you to see. It wasn't, or was it...because had you really listened to your gut, your wiser friends or just took the time to focus a little closer scrutiny for yourself at who and what you were getting.... There was no time for that in the courtship or on that wedding day, the ride was too thrilling to concern yourself over such trivial matters.
However, now it's crunch time, the rubber has met the road, your unfaithful lover has been weighed in the scales and found seriously wanting.
Worse still - He Lied TO YOU!
The President didn't know about Benghazi. He didn't know about Fast and Furious. He didn't know that his key legislation's website wasn't ready for launch. He didn't know that his healthcare act would throw countless thousands of workers off their current insurance rolls leaving them stranded with no other option but the Affordable Healthcare Act (ACA), which they are now unable to adequately sign up for before being penalized. He supposedly didn't know that instead of costing less to the budget the ACA would cause an increase of over $10 trillion in new spending and raise ACA premiums to levels unaffordable by many. He didn't know about NSA spying on allied world leaders. Obama never seems to know what's going on around him.
I spent about thirteen years in the military, eight years working in the Veteran's Administration medical system and another thirty years in the private sector. I have worked in restaurants, bowling alley, radio studio, the inter-webs, top secret installations, medical clinics and hospitals ranging from 130 beds to nearly 1000 beds. In all that time and under all those different scenarios I have never come into contact with any leader of those organizations that was so out of touch with what their primary duties were as much as President Obama appears to be with his.
I have little doubt that the president knows his last golf score or the grades his two girls got on their most recent report cards. But, if those coming forward in D.C. who think they are shielding him from criticism or responsibility by using the catchphrase "he didn't know," they are sorely mistaken. If President Obama did know of the aforementioned items then he is inefficient and incompetent at best and at its worse he would be responsible for the murder of several American human beings performing their sworn duty to protect and defend The United States of America, just as if it was he himself who pulled the trigger on them. He would be guilty of allowing the phone tapping and spying on allies such as the German chancellor and who knows how many others by the National Security Agency. And, he would be guilty of purposefully lying to the American people, his supporters and to small business owners about the truth of the costs of his "ObamaCare."
How long would a company put up with a CEO like that? How long should Americans?
“We have made it clear, in all possible forums, that Israel will not stand by and watch Iran develop weaponry that will put us, the entire Middle East and eventually the world, under an Iranian umbrella of terror,” stated Danny Danon, Israel’s deputy defense minister.
Anyone living on the surface of planet Earth who doesn't think Iran is seeking and will build a nuclear weapon is one of three things: in denial, ignorant or supports its efforts.
It is a fact that the American and EU sanctions against the radical Islamic country are working in so far as causing hardship among Iran’s common citizenry. However, its effect on the religious and civilian leadership of the country has had no effect whatsoever. It was hoped by President Obama and those other countries supporting the sanctions that it would give the leaders of Iran pause as they witnessed the suffering such sanctions were causing their people. These kind of sanction policies have worked in the past. Yet, it hasn't deterred their efforts to acquire fissionable material one iota. In fact the sanctions appear to have had the opposite affect on the Ayatollahs making them more determined than ever to get their bomb.
According to the U.S. president no measure dealing with Iran’s insistence to acquire a nuclear bomb has been removed from the table, however, like so many of this president’s warnings in the past, this one too appears to have little weight behind it nor is it taken seriously by Iran and its main ally and sponsor Russia.
This fact leaves little room for Israel since that small nation seems to be the center of Iran’s nuclear ambition. Iran has insisted it will destroy Israel at the earliest opportunity by literally blowing it away. The only way that can be achieved would be by the use of a nuclear device. Therefore, with this latest pronouncement from Iran that they are just one month from having the material needed for such a device Israel will be forced to do what the United States and the EU are all too hesitant to.
Israel acting unilaterally for its very survival would turn the Middle East into a literal Armageddon. Every Muslim and Arab nation in the region would be dragged into the Israeli-Iran conflagration which would ultimately force the greater world powers to step in as well. But, sad as it is to think about, Iran acting irrationally and irresponsibly can only have one response from Israel. When you live in a country where in some locations your borders are only eleven miles apart and overall you are about the size of the American State of Delaware, the smallest of U.S. States, then any threat, particularly a nuclear one, must be taken seriously and dealt with immediately, perhaps even preemptively.
While Iran may be only a month away for having weapons grade uranium it would still take time to build a missile capable of delivering its payload into Israel. However, the real fear isn’t Iran building a missile which would take quite a bit of time to not only build but ensure it had the ability to reach its target; the real problem is Iran doesn't need a missile to get their bomb into Israel. In a much quicker timescale a small device in something as simple as a backpack could be stealthily brought into Israel by any of Iran’s puppet terrorist groups from Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon or Syria and detonated anywhere in the Jewish State. This is the main reason of concern that aroused deputy minister Danon to make the statement he did. He and everyone in Israel knows that if Iran is only about thirty days from having the material needed for the bomb then a delivery mechanism for such a device can't be far behind, if not already sitting and waiting for it.
The big question now after this new revelation out of Iran is this: What kind of response came out of Washington D.C.? Simple. Nothing substantial. On Friday both the White House and U.S. State Department stated that they will wait and give new sanctions a real shot at working. In other words, a BIG PAUSE.
If Israel is forced to act, and I for one, support any action they feel necessary to protect themselves from a relentless foe vowed on their destruction, then the world need prepare for what could well turn out to be the very thing it claims to always want to avoid - World War III.
Having an older Doctor will be a bit strange for those who only know the last three regenerated Doctors. Those passed 40 years of age remember several older gentleman who filled the role quite wonderfully including the first, William Hartnell who was only three years younger (age 53) than Capaldi when he entered the TARDIS 50 years ago.
Current showrunner Steven Moffat has spilled a few beans as to the personality of Doctor #12 in Doctor Who Magazine #464. According to Moffat this Doctor will:
* Be trickier and fiercer than the last three
* Be difficult to take at the beginning, but will grow on the audience (through the eyes of his companion)
* Capaldi will maintain his real Scottish accent
* This Doctor will reveal just how dramatic the regeneration process is on the psyche of the Doctor
Another bit of good news for fans is Jenna-Louise Coleman will remain on as Clara the Doctor’s companion and she develops “a proper old crush” on the elder Doctor.
I wonder how long it will take before he is fired for being honest with his thoughts and feelings about America's financial situation.
This is a MUST SEE Video from WHDN Boston and Nobel Peace Prize Nominee Dr. Jim Garrow:
SNOPES.com and The Democratic Unerground.com (TDU) claim this is just another wacko out there proclaiming an unfounded conspiracy about another President ready to take over America's freedom and replace it with tryanny. Are SNOPES and TDU correct? Or, is Dr. Garrow another in an ever growing voice shouting in the wilderness that it is time for the complacency within the American heart to awaken to the danger awaiting them?
Method has been around since the first actors performed on those cold raining nights through the embers of the burning fire in caves but it found structure through the great acting coach Lee Strasberg in the 1930’s. It has been the approach of favor for such renowned actors as Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Daniel Day Lewis, Dustin Hoffman, Paul Newman, Jack Nicholson and Tom Hanks, just to name of view of the great ones.
The style, also used by teachers like Stella Adler and the Actor Studio’s Robert Lewis, allows the actor to try and become one with their character, accessing within their own psyche the mental, emotional and psychological essence of their part, and, in the extreme, the actual physical characteristics of their character. During performances this style often creeps into the actor's off-camera or off-stage lives during the time they are “in character.” This was proven to be the case in two particular individuals, Robert De Niro and Tom Hanks, who had changed their physical appearance to the point of losing and gaining a tremendous amount of body fat for their roles in such films as “Raging Bull” and “Castaway.” Tom Hanks has done this kind of extreme makeover on more than one occasion for his award winning performances in “Forrest Gump” and “Philadelphia Story.”
While the application of Method may have proven award winning for actors like Hanks, De Niro and Brando, it also has come with a price. For Orson Welles and Marlon Brando it led to an inability to control their weight in latter years of their lives because of the extremes they put their physical makeup through over the course of their careers. Their excesses with Method led to a condition resembling insulin resistance and symptoms of hair loss, muscle weakness, joint pain and long periods of depressive behavior which they both experienced over the course of their lifetimes.
For Tom Hanks, his taking on roles that Method, his acting choice, required him to vary his weight from obese to extreme thinness has paid its price for the three-time Academy Award winner with the recent news that he has acquired Type II Diabetes most likely as a result of those pendulum swings. While this is the most common form of diabetic disease it can be brought on by extremes in damage done to the body which are preventable.
Without any doubt the Strasberg/Stanislavski Method System of acting has produced some of the greatest performers of the theatrical and film arts in the history of mankind. However, to those just entering this time-honored profession be cautious and don’t feel it is necessary to utilize it for each and every single role that will come your way.
There are several reasons why Mr. Obama doesn’t feel compelled to try and work out a compromising solution(s) to the current budget and shutdown woes facing the nation. First, he doesn’t need to. There is no office for him to be running for once his final term is complete as President. Secondly, his minions in the mainstream media, such as those over at MSNBC, CBS, ABC and CNN have been pounding into the heads of their half-conscious viewers that it is the GOP who are to blame for not giving the President and his Democratic pals in the House and Senate every last thing they want without so much as a bend over and thank you. Thirdly, the President finds himself in the precarious position of openly speaking out of both sides of his mouth, that is if anyone in the mainstream media would take the time to remind their sheep in the audience how this President, while a Senator during the Bush Presidency, refused to vote to increase the debt limit; the very thing he is asking GOP members of the House and Senate to now do under his leadership. Finally, unlike the last President faced with a government shutdown, Mr. Bill Clinton, who could be seen nearly everyday meeting with members from both sides of the aisle of the House and Senate, working on a compromise-laced bill that offered a little something for all three sides and eventually coming to an understanding that lead to a curbing of the shutdown that would have lasted much longer. Mr. Obama is either completely unwilling or unable to compromise on anything at all, particularly on certain aspects of his unpopular Affordable Healthcare Act. To do so opens up way too many questions that this President would be hard-pressed to answer before the American people. Questions like:
Why have exemptions to certain aspects of the healthcare law been granted to some special groups such as unions, Congressional staffers and aides and some businesses that have been favorable to this President and his administration?
Why won’t this President support a resolution from the GOP that is designed to make ObamaCare fair across the board by making all members of Congress (the House and Senate) fall under the same Affordable Healthcare plan as every other American worker and citizen?
Why did the Democratic-led Senate shoot down said fair resolution in order to keep their current healthcare plan over that provided under the President’s Affordable Healthcare Act?
Could it be that the Democratic members of Congress finally got around to actually reading the Act they so hurriedly passed without so much as an initial look-through and see it for the flawed bill it is and want no part of it for themselves or their staff?
The Federal government has shutdown. Next, the President may be willing to allow this nation to renege on its debt literally bringing the country down to its economic knees and a possible state of financial instability it won’t recover from if allowed to continue for more than just a couple of days. And all this because this President won’t or can’t do what every President before him has done; learn the art of compromise and negotiation with an adverse Congress.
Question is: Who can defend and protect the nation from him?
Mr. Cruz spent a tad over 20 hours on his feet attired in his Sunday best and spoke eloquently the whole time about the evils of ObamaCare, how it should be de-funded and why ultimately the entire program should be entirely scrapped. I have little disagreement over that issue and applaud him making it quite clear where 70% of the American people already stand on that particular program. That was the surface lining of his nearly day long talk but there was an underbelly that had absolutely nothing to do with ObamaCare and everything to do with who will lead and what will be the future of the Republican Party.
At the heart of Cruz’ real intent was just the opposite of what a past great Republican leader did. Cruz definitely wants an extreme right conservative GOP and remove every moderate and slightly left-of-center member from its wings. His 20 hour speech was a mainly, though veiled, call-to-arms to the extreme right-wing base of the Republican Party to wage war against itself, to make no room for the likes of a McCain or a Graham. Give no quarter to those in the middle, the moderates of the GOP and to capture with a vice-like grip the policy of the party starting in 2014 and onward.
The idol of the Republican Party, former President Ronald Reagan must be rolling over and moaning in his grave at the sight of his vastly divided Grand Old Party. Unlike Senator Cruz, then Governor Reagan, soon to be President Reagan, tore down the walls that divided the great caged Elephant. He gave the mighty beast room to grow and breath and move and expand by opening it up to all who hated the idea of an extreme left-wing liberal-led America. This meant making room for the McCains within the political spectrum and the George Herbert Walker Bush’s of the GOP as well as those more harder to the right like himself, the Goldwater Republicans and even those like today’s Cruz wing and the Libertarian quarter which today is led by Senator Rand Paul. The tent was big under Ronald Reagan and the country was greater and better off for it because it allowed for negotiations, compromise, finesse in legislative endeavor which produced results in which everyone from all sides, even the Democratic side under their House Speaker Tip O'Neill , got something they wanted while President Reagan basically got all he wanted. However, Senator Cruz of Texas, whether he would ever admit to it or not, is bound to rip the GOP apart, to destroy what this country’s greatest modern President built over his political lifetime, a strong, centered, principled and robust Republican Party. Cruz, wants his party to be a 3D printed cutout of himself and his ideology and it makes no room at all for anyone or anything that doesn’t toe his particular agenda and policy line in the sand.
I want the party of Ronald Reagan back. I hope it is possible to regain that Grand Old Party and not see it go the way of Truman and JFK’s Democratic Party that was soon eroded away after their deaths by the ultra-left wing liberal progressives that we see today with leaders like Pelosi and Reid.
Since the day that Donald J. Trump officially announced his candidacy for the Office of United States President back in 2015 his qualificati...
