Obama's Second Term Transformation Plans

Second Term Transformation Plans

Written by: Steve McCann

The 2012 election has often been described as the most pivotal since 1860.This statement is not hyperbole. If Barack Obama is re-elected the United States will never be the same, nor will it be able to re-capture its once lofty status as the most dominant nation in the history of mankind.

The overwhelming majority of Americans do not understand that Obama's first term was dedicated to putting in place executive power to enable him and the administration to fulfill the campaign promise of "transforming America " in his second term regardless of which political party controls Congress. That is why his re-election team is virtually ignoring the plight of incumbent or prospective Democratic Party office holders.

The most significant accomplishment of Obama's first term is to make Congress irrelevant. Under the myopic and blindly loyal leadership of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats have succeeded in creating an imperial and, in a second term, a potential dictatorial presidency.

During the first two years of the Obama administration when the Democrats overwhelming controlled both Houses of Congress and the media was in an Obama worshipping stupor, a myriad of laws were passed and actions taken which transferred virtually unlimited power to the executive branch.

The birth of multi-thousand page laws was not an aberration. This tactic was adopted so the bureaucracy controlled by Obama appointees would have sole discretion in interpreting vaguely written laws and enforcing thousands of pages of regulations they and not Congress would subsequently write.

For example, in the 2,700 pages of ObamaCare there are more than 2,500 references to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. There are more than 700 instances when he or she is instructed that they "shall" do something and more than 200 times when they "may" take at their sole discretion some form of regulatory action. On 139 occasions, the law mentions that the "Secretary determines." In essence one person, appointed by and reporting to the president, will be in charge of the health care of 310 million Americans once ObamaCare is fully operational in 2014.

The same is true in the 2,319 pages of the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Act which confers nearly unlimited power on various agencies to control by fiat the nation's financial, banking and investment sectors. The bill also creates new agencies, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, not subject to any oversight by Congress. This overall process was repeated numerous times with other legislation all with the intent of granting unfettered power to the executive branch controlled by Barack Obama and his radical associates.

Additionally, the Obama administration has, through its unilaterally determined rule making and regulatory powers, created laws out of whole cloth. The Environmental Protection Agency on a near daily basis issues new regulations clearly out of their purview in order to modify and change environmental laws previously passed and to impose a radical green agenda never approved by Congress. The same is true of the Energy and Interior Departments among many others.

None of these extra-constitutional actions have been challenged by Congress. The left in America knows this usurpation of power is nearly impossible to reverse unless stopped in its early stages.

It is clearly the mindset of this administration and its appointees that Congress is merely a nuisance and can be ignored after they were able to take full advantage of the useful idiots in the Democrat controlled House and Senate in 2009-2010 and the Democrat Senate in the current Congress.

Additionally, Barack Obama knows after his re-election a Republican controlled House and Senate will not be able to enact any legislation to roll back the power previously granted to the Executive Branch or usurped by them. His veto will not be overridden as there will always be at least 145 Democratic members of the House or 34 in the Senate in agreement with or intimidated by an administration more than willing to use Chicago style political tactics.

The stalemate between the Executive and Legislative Branches will inure to the benefit of Barack Obama and his fellow leftists.

The most significant power Congress has is the control of the purse-strings as all spending must be approved by them. However, once re-elected, Barack Obama, as confirmed by his willingness to do or say anything and his unscrupulous re-election tactics, would not only threaten government shutdowns but would deliberately withhold payments to those dependent on government support as a means of intimidating and forcing a Republican controlled Congress to surrender to his demands, thus neutering their ability to control the administration through spending constraints.

Further, this administration has shown contempt for the courts by ignoring various court orders, e.g. the Gulf of Mexico oil drilling moratorium, as well as stonewalling subpoenas and requests issued by Congress. The Eric Holder Justice Department has become the epitome of corruption as part of the most dishonest and deceitful administration in American history. In a second term the arrogance of Barack Obama and his minions will become more blatant as he will not have to be concerned with re-election.

Who will be there to enforce the rule of law, a Supreme Court ruling or the Constitution? No one. Barack Obama and his fellow-travelers will be unchallenged as they run roughshod over the American people.

Many Republicans and conservatives dissatisfied with the prospect of Mitt Romney as the nominee for president are instead focused on re-taking the House and Senate. That goal, while worthy and necessary, is meaningless unless Barack Obama is defeated. The nation is not dealing with a person of character and integrity but someone of single-minded purpose and overwhelming narcissism. Judging by his actions, words and deeds during his first term, he does not intend to work with Congress either Republican or Democrat in his second term but rather to force his radical agenda on the American people through the power he has usurped or been granted.

The governmental structure of the United States was set up by the founders in the hope that over the years only those people of high moral character and integrity would assume the reins of power. However, knowing that was not always possible, they dispersed power over three distinct and independent branches as a check on each other.

What they could not imagine is the surrender and abdication of its constitutional duty by the preeminent governmental branch, the Congress, to a chief executive devoid of any character or integrity coupled with a judiciary essentially powerless to enforce the law when the chief executive ignores them.

Conservatives, Libertarians, the Republican Party and Mitt Romney must come to grips with this moment in time and their historical role in denying Barack Obama and his minions their ultimate goal. All resources must be directed at that end-game and not merely controlling Congress and the various committee chairmanships.

Is World War III On the Horizon?

What will World War III look like? It is a question that has plagued humanity since the first A-bombs were dropped on Japan in 1945 by the United States. While the world thought it could finally breath a little easier after the collapse of the Soviet Bloc and viewing that remarkable feat in Berlin when the world witnessed the bringing down of that horrific wall, many of us knew it was but a brief respite from humanity’s incessant need to destroy everything it always spends generations building up.

Today we have all kinds of worries and fears when it comes to stability. Terrorists are the new bad guys on the block. Who could have ever imagined that a group of well trained, highly gifted and educated people would ever fly airplanes full of innocent people into buildings filled with equally innocent hard working people of all nationalities because their supposed god said it was the righteous thing to do?

Who but the most perverted of mind could have ever envisioned a time when young grade school and high school aged children would willingly strap pounds of C4 to their bodies, climb aboard a bus or walk into a mall or restaurant and blow themselves up along with countless others who were doing nothing more than going to work, school, enjoying a night out with friends, family or a first date?

Sadly, these are the times we find ourselves living in today. For those of us who were raised in the 1950’s our biggest fear was the Soviet Union dropping the big one on us. By the time we entered high school in the early 1960’s we all knew the fear but were now aware that those living in Russia were just as fearful and after the Cuban Missile Crisis was successfully concluded and the world brought back from the brink of destruction, we all pretty much knew that the likelihood of a nuclear conflagration between the two superpowers of the Cold War was not going to happen as we once thought in our 1950’s innocence. Somehow, we just knew that the real culprits of any future conflict that would engulf the entire planet into near annihilation wouldn’t be as obvious as superpowers going at it toe to toe. The scenario for the third and final war will be something a bit more improbable.

That improbable scenario is unfolding now faster and more probable than any would have ever thought possible and it all centers on one of the smallest pieces of real estate on our big planet, a little but vastly important State known as Israel.

As a Jew living in America the country of Israel has always been very important to me. It is the home of my ancestors and the future hope of all Jews across the globe. Those of us living outside the Land remember her at the conclusion of every Passover Seder by exclaiming - “Next year in Jerusalem.” Politically, Israel has been a sort of centerpiece of world affairs since it came back into existence on May 1948 after its 2000 year exile, but today it holds center stage like no other country before it. Why? Because Israel now finds itself fully hedged-in on all sides by its proclaimed enemies, and like its only western ally, the United States, it too has nuclear capability. The Muslim Brotherhood, profound haters of all Jews and the State of Israel, is to the South and West in Egypt. A quickly dissolving democratic-monarchy Jordan to the East, along with a very weak fledgling democracy in Iraq. Two big enemies to the North are found in Lebanon, the literal home of the Iran supported terrorist group Hezbollah, the completely unstable Syria which will in all likelihood become the next Muslim Brotherhood stronghold and to the East the Persian Muslim-controlled country of Iran which will have a nuclear capable arsenal by the end of 2013. Iran is Israel’s strongest threat because of its ravenous desire for a nuclear bomb and its well publicized proclamation that once obtained they will not hesitate to use such a weapon on their eternal enemy Israel. Last, but far from least is the threat of another terror group called Hamas now made legitimate by the election process in the make-believe Palestinian state. Hamas surrounds Israel to its West and East in the Gaza Strip and The West Bank. Israel is smaller than the State of Delaware and is only eleven miles across at its thinnest border lines.

Further to the South and East are other Muslim countries with a pronounced and unbalanced hatred for Israel with Saudi Arabia being the biggest threat of all because of their vast oil and financial reserves and they have proven in the past that they are not afraid to use that influence it has over its energy consuming financial allies in the West, those being The United States and The European Union. Anyone living through the long gas lines and false shortages from OPEC in the mid 1970’s can attest to that.

So, the big question is why should anyone care what happens to Israel? On the surface they don’t appear to have much to offer the world in the way of vast energy reserves of oil or natural gas. In fact, from a purely strategic assessment, on the surface it would appear that Israel has little to offer the modern world, and especially the Western world, to warrant such attention and care over its future or lack thereof. So why all the fuss?

Israel is a major player in the world when it comes to goods and services, high technology in computer chip manufacturing, medical intervention and it’s gardens and farms feed nearly all of Europe with fresh fruit and vegetables every day. The EU would find itself in more than just the financial bind it presently is experiencing if the food supply from Israel was suddenly cut off due to a war. Cut off Europe’s main supplier of fresh foodstuffs and the financial riots will seem like a weekend fun-fest.

The importance of Israel to the United States and the rest of the free world cannot be overstated. First, Israel is America’s only real true democratically governed ally in the region. It is the only State that can be counted on to open its gates and arms to the U.S. with just one call from the American President to the Israeli Prime Minister. Where Turkey, Egypt and Jordan have proven so many times in the past to be fair-weather friends of America, Israel has proven itself to be a staunch real friend and supporter time and time again. As a fellow successful democratic State Israel, even with all the turmoil in the region, because of its strength and friendship with the United States actually acts as a stabilizing force in the Middle East. That is one reason why the Arab States that surround Israel would like to see it fall by the way, it would completely diminish nearly all influence the United States has in the region leaving the way open for stronger countries like Iran to exert its power and Muslim rule over the area thinking that with the help of their allies to the North - Russia and China - the Ayatollah’s could bring about Mohammed's great dream of a powerful Muslim-Sharia World Order.

On August 16, 2012 Matan Vilnai, Israel’s home defense minister, stated that there will likely be a war between Iran and Israel in the very foreseeable future and such a conflict would likely last for up to 30 days and see Israel losing about 500 of its citizenry. “The assessments are for a war that will last 30 days on a number of fronts,” Vilnai told the Maariv newspaper in Jerusalem.

The mere fact that those in power are even considering the assessment of length of days and number of casualties is frightening enough, but more scary is the unacknowledged fact that knowing how things tend to escalate so quickly in that region of the world over the slightest misunderstanding, to think that an actual armed conflict between Iran and Israel would last only 30 days leaving 500 dead in Israel and who knows how many in Iran would just end there is ridiculous at best and naive at its worse.

If Iran forces Israel’s hand making the Israelis attack first, Iran will likely retaliate with equal force and with the support of its two main allies Russia and China. Because of treaty obligations and self interest it will be necessary for the United States to offer whatever military support that Israel requires to defend itself. Or, if Iran should be stupid enough to attack first then both Israel and the United States would be obliged to return fire. If, God forbid, Iran should acquire its long sought after missile with a nuclear warhead....well, you can see where all this leads.

All sane people hate the idea of another conflict in the Middle East, but all calculating people also realize it is a very likely prognostication. With the drums of war sounding ever louder and repetitious in the region with Iran flexing its muscle thumbing its nose at the United Nations and the Western powers, Russia and China behind the scene goading Iran on and Israel crunching the numbers at what such a war would cost in people and resources, the outlook for peace isn’t a good one. And, to foolishly think this would be a limited engagement between just these two parties is the height of ignorance.

Romney/Ryan - A Good Tag Team Match Up

Governor Mitt Romney has selected Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin to be his Vice Presidential running mate for the 2012 Presidential election. He has accomplished what few before him have done, made both Republicans and Democrats giddy with delight, albeit for totally different reasons.

Representative Ryan comes to this nomination process with fourteen years of Congressional experience under his belt. A fairly pristine record of working rather well on Capital Hill with members of both parties when it comes to forming good working coalitions, a feat made more difficult over the last four years with a very divisive President Obama pitting member against member, class against class and obsession with ideology over working policy.

Mr. Ryan is youthful, only 42 years of age yet experienced particularly in areas of budgeting, finance and fiscal responsibility. Those are a big plus for this Romney/Ryan ticket during the worst years of economic tragedy faced by this nation since the mid 1970’s and the Great Depression of 1929. Where he is weakest is in the same area that Mr. Romney is not strong, foreign affairs. However, if elected, President Romney could offset that imbalance by picking a Secretary of State and a Secretary of Defense with vast experience. Two who could fit that void quite well and bring a wealth of State Department and military experience would be Condoleezza Rice and General David Petraeus.

Republicans are pleased with the Ryan choice because it moved Romney from the too safe/wishy-washy category of politician to a more dramatic, willing to lay it all on the line kind of go-getting winner they have always admired in their candidates. Winners that reflect the charisma of a Reagan, the politically incorrectness of a Gingrich, the sassiness of a Palin and the stalwart integrity of a Ron Paul. Republicans and Tea Party members have always admired Romney for his ability to move those fiscal mountains but have been somewhat wary of his dedication to the conservative cause and ideology of smaller government, lower taxes and less intrusiveness in the daily lives of individuals and corporations. This pick of Rep. Paul Ryan has given them much hope and enthusiasm that Romney is a true convert and not just another voting tilling politico.

The Democrats are thrilled with the Ryan choice because they see this as a rallying tool to get what has become a lackluster liberal and moderate following because of Obama's dismal handling of the economy off their behinds and back into the fray of supporting President Obama and pushing for more government intervention. They also believe Ryan could help them siphon-off some of those cherished middle income, 60 and older independent voters who have a fear that Ryan will be used in a new Romney Administration to begin tearing away at both Social Security and Medicare benefits. While the reality concerning this fear is not likely to happen in this or any other future administration, you can bet your food stamps that Obama and his surrogates will be pounding airwaves and pavement with that kind of gloom and doom Social Security/Medicare message.

The truth of the matter is Ryan has been selected to be Mr. Romney’s Vice President - not President, regardless of Romney’s freudian slip on Saturday when introducing the exuberant Ryan to the stage. The economic plan and budget that will be instituted if Mr. Romney is elected President will be his plan, not the Ryan Budget submitted nearly 2 years ago to Congress. I find all kinds of things wrong with the Ryan Budget, particularly as it relates to Medicare, however, there are also many things right about the plan and for the President to decry the entire budget because of Ryan’s misguided attempt to offer “premium-support payments,” within a restructured Medicare, which the President correctly called “vouchers,” is just as ludicrous. It is just another example of divisiveness coerced by Mr. Obama instead of taking what is good about the plan and negotiating by compromise what is not and bringing a viable product to the American people. It is a case of the President still smarting and seething from the verbal and intellectual might of Representative Ryan’s assault on ObamaCare those many months ago at that hyped media event the President put together to try and convince voters just how wonderful and cost-effective the plan was. After Ryan convincingly and so publicly unmasked ObamaCare for the money-pit it truly was at that very forum the President has been unable or unwilling to work with either house of the Congress ever since, thus, three years and counting without a budget.

The Romney/Ryan ticket is a good match and could work very effectively for this country. It may well be the last ditch effort Americans can have for ensuring the United States doesn’t slide into the deep end of European Socialism once and for all, finding itself mired in much of the kind of life we have found so unattractive for the last 400 plus years. If nothing else, for the first time since Reagan went up against Carter in 1980, we have a clear demarcation of ideological candidates. Voters have an unfettered choice between what kind of America they want to live in and to pass on to their future generation.

They made the right choice in 1980. Will they do so in 2012?
