Romney Calls Jerusalem the Capital of Israel

My level of respect for Governor and presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney just moved up several notches on my admiration meter. Just the other day I posted an editorial stating that if Romney really wanted to prove to the world that he would truly stand by our only real Middle East ally then he would openly declare that Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel and the United States should recognize this fact by moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Today, in comments to CNN's Wolf Blitzer he did just that very thing. "A nation has the capacity to choose its own capital city, and Jerusalem is Israel's capital." Romney made his remark to CNN's Wolf Blitzer in an interview that will air on the cable news outlet this Monday evening. "I think it's long been the policy to ultimately have our embassy in the nation's capital of Jerusalem," Romney added.

Kudos Mr. Romney for putting yourself out there and being willing to go against an American policy that has been a slap in the face of the State of Israel since 1967. Now, once elected President the first order of foreign affairs business needs to be Romney putting those worthty words into action and ensure they become a reality.
