Now Is The Time?

There is a link on Facebook for NOW IS THE TIME which says that after such tragic events in Newtown, Aurora, etc., now is the time for our leaders to act. The site proclaims that now is the time to demand a plan. Three of the site's biggest demands are:

1. Require a criminal background check for every gun sold in America.

2. Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

3. Make gun trafficking a federal crime, including real penalties for “straw purchasers.”

Of course, what this site fails to mention is that most States already have laws that ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Nearly all States require a criminal background check for every weapon sold. Hand guns can take weeks to acquire. And, gun trafficking is already a federal crime (unless of course, it is the U.S. Government behind it - remember "Fast and Furious?")

What NOW IS THE TIME wants to do is remove this burden of responsibility from the States and give the Federal Government (or, God forbid, the United Nations) full control over the gun issue in the United States. This would simply be just one more step in helping to fullfil the government's agenda voiced several years ago by the once Attorney General Janet Reno when she announced that, "Waiting periods for (private gun ownership) is only a step. Registration is only a step. Prohibition of private firearms is the goal."

I have a plan that doesn't call for the dismantling of the United States Constitution. There are already hundreds of laws on the books dealing with gun enforcement does anyone really see a need for more? How's this for a plan: Begin to truly enforce the myriad of laws already on the books without infringing on the Constitutional right to bear arms. Stop pounding the pavement by supporting the ridiculous cause of banning all guns, which would require an overhaul of our founding documents, and take the current laws about controlling gun sales, gun registration and tough sentences on those who use guns in violent crime. Go after those who use guns unlawfully with the massive amount of laws already in place instead of denying guns to citizens who have the right to own and use them for personal protection of life, limb, family and property, or for sport and hunting.

Most States already have very stringent laws concerning guns, especially those used by those individuals in the towns mentioned earlier. Connecticut has one of the toughest laws on record for the type of assault weapon that madman used to kill those teachers and children. The problem isn't more laws or "A PLAN." The problem lies in society's unwillingness to enforce the laws already in place.

Many in this society think that disarming the general public will do more for it's safety than enforcing current laws and legislation. They are woefully in error and all past societies who have done this are proof of it's failure. The only two things this will accomplish is give people a false sense of security and will remove the only means available to a free society to really protect itself from those who will have the arms: government, police and criminals, the very groups our founding fathers feared the most for the safety of the common people.

Those wanting most to eliminate guns from their society are the one's most adamant about their right to free speech, freedom of expression and a free press. What they fail to understand is that first amendment right can only be guaranteed by their second amendment right to bear arms. In order for any ruling class to gain control over the masses in a Constitutional Republic like America the need to eliminate their first amendment rights is paramount and to do that one must first get rid of their second amendment rights. Our U.S. government's plan is in full effect and ignorantly being advanced and supported by those on the left who worship at the altar of free expression.

Great News From AIPAC For Those Who Treasure Israel

Congress just passed a bill including five items that will specifically help keep Israel safe, strong and secure. For all supporters of Israel and AIPAC know that your investment in AIPAC and commitment to building relationships with your American senators and representative helped enable them to work with Congress to include these items in the National Defense Authorization Act.
 The Act includes:

1. $211 million more for Israel’s Iron Dome rocket defense system. This remarkable system saved countless Israelis when it intercepted more than 400 rockets fired from Gaza in November.

2. $267 million more for U.S. - Israel cooperative programs that help strengthen the bonds between the two allies, including missile defense programs designed to protect Israel against Iran and Hizballah’s missile arsenals.

3. Tough new sanctions on Iran, including the closing of a loophole that has allowed some purchasers of Iranian oil to use gold and other metals rather than cash to pay for petroleum products.

4. A statement that the United States should be prepared to take all necessary measures, including military action if required, to prevent Iran from threatening the United States, its allies or Iran’s neighbors with a nuclear weapon.

5. The sense of Congress that the United States “fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself against acts of terrorism.”

Also this week, 74 senators signed a bipartisan letter to the president urging further pressure on Iran until it takes decisive steps to curtail its nuclear program. The letter states, “We believe there is no national security challenge that is more urgent and essential to resolve during your second term than Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapons capability.”

In addition, more than half the House has signed a bipartisan letter that makes it clear to the Palestinians that the United States expects direct talks with Israel to resume immediately, and we will not tolerate attempts to bypass negotiations by going to the U.N. The letter suggests ways to respond to the PLO for breaking the Oslo Accords and going to the United Nations.

Update On My Status

For those wondering where I have been for the last several days:

Haven't been posting for a few days. I went into full retirement from my medical career after 50 years of working on December 14. Immediately, I mean on the exact same day, came down with serious bout of flu-type illness and still trying to recoup from it. Will be posting once more after I have fully kicked this thing and am back 100% on my feet.

Stay tuned.

People Kill People - Deal With It!

I know some of my readers are wondering if I would wax poetical over the truly unjustifiable and sad events today in the Northeastern part of the United States with the merciless killing of kindergarten children. Sorry to disappoint but I only have a brief comment.

For those yielding to their emotions over this tragedy in Connecticut and calling for the banning of all guns, I only have this to say: Why not ban cars, cars kill people. Why not ban cigarettes and alcohol, they kill people.

Better yet let's try this tactic: BAN PEOPLE! People kill people.

As sad as this situation is you cannot legislate decent behavior because unstable, indecent, unscrupulous people will find a way to kill even if every thing on the planet gets banned.

Nuf said.

With Friends Like These

There is an old saying: "With friends like these who needs enemies!" That statement could well apply to the United States of America as it relates to that country's relationship with its only real Middle East ally, Israel.

A while back I wrote how I believed one of the most secret foes of Israel is the current U.S. President, Barach Hussain Obama and with his reelection I think the hatred he holds for the Jewish State will only be made more manifest.

The very public snub Obama gave Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu several months ago raised a lot of eyebrows in the worldwide diplomatic community and sent a clear message to those in the Arab world and Iran that the relationship between America and Israel was no longer to be business as ususal. The result has been more boldness being shown by the Ayatollahs and Middle Eastern dictators to build up both traditional and non-traditional weapons for future use against Israel, with Obama doing little than toothless threats against Arab and Persian leaders.

The newest indicator of this deep freeze relationship between the U.S. and Israel is the report coming out of Israel that the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi and President Obama have come to an agreement that will put 20 F-16 Fighter Jets into the hands of the Egyptian Air Force. This negotiation happened despite a call from Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives to stop all arms and munitions sales to regimes like the Muslim Brotherhood. As usual President Obama is ignoring congressional leaders and doing what he thinks is appropriate behavior against a staunch ally and has basically disavowed the longstanding Amercian policy to not sell weapons are war equipment to a terrorist organization, which the Muslim Brotherhood is.

Some in the Obama administration think that Morsi can be counted on to bring stability to a region already frault with increasing tension. If events from last week are any indication of the tenuous hold he has in Egypt then those F-16 jets are likely to eventually fall into more radical elements within the Brotherhood or some other group lusting for power and will be used against, not only those in Egypt unhappy with the regime but also the State of Israel. Why Obama hasn't figured that out is anybody's guess, but then again, perhaps he has and is simply sending another strong message to his Muslim and Arab friends that he can be counted on in the end to turn his back on the Jews in Israel if and when its enemies surrounding her borders and hidden within them decide its time to make one last attempt at their total annihilation.

For decades since the formation of the Jewish State in 1948 the United States has been the strongest ally of Israel. There have been moments when it was her only friend. However, over the last 15 years America has been more of a fair weather friend and these last 4 years has seen the U.S. actually behave more like a stand-offish embarassed flighty supporter or downright enemy, both publically and in private. Some think this spells disaster for Israel. Yet, those with real wisdom know it is a sign of the decline in the power and influence of America and could result in the complete fall of the great empire once known as The United States of America. Like all who came and went before her, when the ashes have settled and the sun peaks through, the one still standing will be Israel with all those wishing to do her harm strewn about her feet like wounded cockroaches. Israel has the only Friend she needs and the U.S. would do well to heed the lessons from the past.

This Is The End?

“This is the end, beautiful friend. This is the end my only friend, the end of all our elaborate plans, the end of everything that stands, the end. No safety or surprise, the end.” - The Doors

Those famous lyrics song by the late Jim Morrison of the 60’s rock group The Doors have been the swan song for End of Dayers, pulpit and street corner apocalyptic preachers and disaster town criers since it was first penned by Jim Morrison nearly fifty years ago as he lamented breaking up with his then girlfriend Mary Werbelow. Of course Morrison had no idea at the time it would become such a huge drawing card for the kind of doom and gloom theme song it has become, especially after film director Francis Ford Coppola used it so successfully in his graphic war film “Apocalypse Now.”

The idea of This Is The End has been around a lot longer than any Jim Morrison tune. It would seem the Earth has been on the brink of coming apart at the seams from the very second it coalesced into this habitable ball of dust floating in space. And, from the time humanity became self aware it has predicted, unsuccessfully to date, it’s own demise either by some natural unavoidable catastrophe, god-inspired three-act play or at our own suicidal hand.

After a little more than four billion years of revolving around Sol the Earth is still here. Changed many times, yes, but still trudging its way along whatever destiny lies ahead for it in the vast universe. Homo-sapien sapiens have inhabited (some believe infected) Earth for at least 250,000 years and amidst all the changes that the Earth itself, disease, wars, famines, pestilences and just plain meanness we have inflicted upon one another we are here now in numbers just unheard of only one hundred years ago.

It would appear, yet once again, that as in times past, we could be on the verge of a massive purge within our growing numbers. Those with some intelligence are beginning to ask and wonder just how long the planet can sustain a population of humans that is now swelling to nearly eight billion residents. Mother Earth has been going through yet another bevy of changes, some the result of those billions of folks and most due to conditions completely unrelated and uncontrollable by those same humans. Weather patterns are shifting, tectonic plates are moving more erratically, galactic alignment is coming, the Sun is more disturbingly active in a negative way for Earth than it has been in modern history. Tsunamis are increasing, earthquakes have been at magnitudes and frequency unheard of and Planet X-Nibiru is on the way (OK, you can disregard that last one if it is just too much for you to take).

The human element for The End includes everyone’s favorite hot spot, the Middle East. Tensions continue to climb there with ongoing bombings into Israel from Gaza. Syria’s threat of using Sarin gas on its citizens and possibly Israelis. Iran another day closer to developing a nuclear weapon capable of delivery into Israel and surrounding Arab nations. North Korea now able to send a nuclear missile into the American West Coast and to the heart of Japan. American troops are in the Sinai, Russian ships are off the Coast of Gaza in the Mediterranean and U.S. nuclear war ships are standing watch in the Persian Gulf. Pakistan is once again threatening nuclear strikes against India and all of this has become possible because the rest of the world sees the United States of America as a bear in hibernation that is not interested in being aroused from its slumber to keep a steady hand on the wheel of world power. She has instead under the auspices of a perceived weak President, delegated that responsibility to the 150 warring and argumentative faction nations within the powerless and proven useless United Nations.

On top of all this global unsteadiness has been added the threat of worldwide economic collapse the world of humanity has never witnessed since it began. China, now the most economically powerful nation, is already showing signs of decay within its manufacturing sectors. BRIC has become a structurally unsound investment over the long haul, the EU is near economic collapse with the recent fall of Greece’s economic status with Spain, France and Germany not far behind. The American dollar has been trying to hold its own against other world currencies but is showing signs of sagging for the future. Even those stalwarts like gold and silver are not performing as one would expect in an economy that normally spells good fortune for these precious metals. Nation after nation is being downgraded with America at the top of that list. It has led even the most savvy economist to ask “What the hell is going on?”

It certainly appears like the world, both the Earth and the human world, are coming to a precipice of massive change. Many have even tried to understand why they have this overwhelming sense of coming change. It is more than a feeling, it seems to come right from the gut that the world as it has been known and understood for the last 5000 years is about to be turned on its ear. What has many concerned and even frightened is they have no clue from their same gut if this change is going to be good for humanity and the Earth or disastrous.

Those on the extreme are pointing to December 21, 2012 as the focal point for all this change. That is just two weeks away. They point to the Mayan long count calendar as the source of their inspiration claiming that at that time the Earth and our solar system will be in perfect alignment with the Milky Way’s galactic center. The effect of the Earth will be a shift in the electromagnetic field of the planet. The real extremist are even saying that the shift will be tectonic causing massive physical changes to the Earth both positive and negative in nature. Roland Emmerich’s film “2012” took that approach. The more spiritually minded are predicting the full age of Aquarius will finally dawn upon humankind advancing its spiritual frequency shift to a higher plane of enlightenment. Basically, making most of us mini-Buddhas.

Personally, I have no clue what if anything will take place on, near or after December 21st of this year. Neither do I care one way or the other. The Earth is going to do what it has done since its creation four billion years ago and we humans will continue on our evolutionary path - its physical and spiritual one - as we have done for centuries until we eventually find new homes on other planets, ascend to become higher beings, get wiped out by some natural disaster, or by our own undoing, or continue to trudge along at our current unsteady gait. Either way, we are only here for a short span of a few years so I suggest you determine what it is you love the most and pursue it with all the resources at your command.

U.S. Troops Enter Sinai As Heat Builds Up

If you only follow the elite video "news" media such as CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN or MSNBC, and yes, even Fox News to a point, then here are some important real news headlines you are likely to have missed out on.

How and why did Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu agree so quickly to a cease fire agreement with the Hamas led Palestinian government out of Gaza? The news came as a surprise to many involved with Middle East news and politics particularly since the PM had amassed a large land force of troops ready to enter Gaza in a matter of hours. What happened to make Netanyahu step back from entering Gaza and why did Hamas really stop its missle attacks against Israel? Could it possibly be this missed headline coming out of Israel - "a ceasefire for halting the eight-day Gaza operation Wednesday night, Nov. 21, after President Barack Obama personally pledged to start deploying US troops in Egyptian Sinai next week." I'm not too surprise that the U.S. Obama-backed news media didn't plaster this all over their front pages of the press or internet sites. The last thing Americans want at the moment is more of their soldiers being deployed in another Middle Eastern hot zone. However, that is exactly what was promised by Obama to Netanyahu and Egyptian dictator, er, I mean, President Morsi.

I know that most Americans don't want to see this, but it was a smart move on the one hand and a scary one on the other. It was smart because the presence of American troops in the Sinai adds pressure on Morsi to try and keep those terrorist under Hamas in check, but it also lends American legitimacy to the Morsi takeover of Egypt, which is not a good signal to be sending to those loving freedom right now throughout that region. It is also scary for a more global reason. It could spell the start of increased hostility in the region with superpower nations involved.

A good example of the global impact is this other bit of news coming out of the same area that isn't making a big splash. The Russian Naval forces are stepping up their activity just off the coast of Gaza in the Mediterranean Sea. Over the last 48 hours they have sent six war ships to patrol the area leaving them well within striking distance of Israel and those American troops within the Sinai penninsula.

On the eastern front a supposed document leaking out of Iran shows that the Imans are seeking to step up production and the strength of their nuclear materials needed to make an even more powerful nuclear destructive device than was originally sought after. According to the Associated Press and Haaretz there is a diagram which reveals the development of fissionable material that would make the Iranian bomb three times more powerful than those used in Hiroshima and Nagastaki during World War II.

Also slipping by most of the American press is the report of a fresh new batch of Iranian missles getting ready to be shipped out of the Persian Gulf for their destination to Gaza to replenish those used up in Hamas' most recent attacks against Israel. With the Israeli navy virtually cutting off all ships carrying weapons into Gaza could the presence of the Russian naval force also be there to pose as a threat to the Israelis as they board and inspect those ships coming into Gaza? Will this lead to a confrontation between Israel and Russia which could escalate into a Cuban missle-like crisis in the Mediterranean? How long will it be before the U.S. sends its naval forces around the area of Gaza? When will Russia land its troops in Syria and Lebanon to flank Israel from the North as American troops try and protect Israel's Southern border with the Sinai?

Things in the region are heating up from a slow burn and it wouldn't take much to turn it into a seething powder-keg. All it takes is one wrong or mis-interpreted move on the part of any of the players and the world could quickly find itself in an escalating World War.

Abortion Is a Right - But Is It Right?

In the United States of America there is a certain kind of tree frog that is protected by a federal law. If you kill one of these critters or decimate their habitat it could cost you a hefty fine and time in a federal penitentiary. This also applies to the destruction of unhatched eagle's eggs. Destruction of these eggs will land you up to a $250,000 fine and a minimum of two years in jail. In other words, kill or maim these creatures or their unborn offspring and you have broken the law of the land.

I do not have a problem with protecting other species that live on this planet. And, except for some very extreme cases under the auspices of the Environmental Protection Act, most of this oversight is a good thing because it keeps the planet a viable place for all life since every living thing is so intricately connected by that thread of life. Which begs the question. If killing the unborn, or yet to be born, offspring of non-human species is a federal crime what kind of society are we that allows the wanton destruction of the unborn, or soon to be born, human life residing within the womb of a human female?

Sure it's easy to hide behind the old cliche that a woman has the right to choose what she does with her own body, but does she have that same right over the life of an unborn human body that for the short span of none months is living in and off of her body? Does that unborn human life have any rights or do those rights only belong to the woman housing the unborn life? It is these questions that have plagued Americans well before the Supreme Court first held up the legality of Roe vs Wade.

Without sounding like I want to force everyone to live by my standard on this particular issue I will state that I do have an opinion to share about it and while I agree it is a woman's right to do with her body as she chooses (just as it is a man's right to do what he chooses with his), it is also a society's right to mandate that a person's individual right need not be the societal norm.

In a democratic republic the rights of the individual are upheld and even put on a pedestal as the highest form of expression for liberty, but, all organized societies also recognize the need for some kind of order, thus the need for limited government and laws. If a society mandates by majority decision that abortion is legal, as it has done in the United States, then it is legal and vice versa.

However, we all know that what's legal isn't always what is just and right. Is it right and just for a society to be so misguided as to go out of its way to protect a tree frog, or yes, even eagle's eggs, making it a federal offense to destroy these living creatures (some before birth such as the eagle eggs) yet make it legal for a woman to destory the life she has been entrusted to carry within her. Perhaps she should just destroy her eggs in the ova that way there would never be any need to destroy an actual forming life in her womb. Or, perhaps she could harvest those eggs for later implantation through in-vitro fertilization for future use in case she should ever decide to allow the unborn life to reach full term.

I wonder what rights an unborn forming and living human life has in America? Obviously not as much as forming living eagles still nestled in their eggs.

Israel 12, Enemies Zip

Coming up Next if they don't behave themselves:

Modern day Gaza, Iran, Syria, and Lebanon.

You'd think by now they would have learned you don't touch the apple of HaShem's eye. I guess they are just slow on the uptake.

Israel Has the Right and Justification

The tiny nation of Israel has existed as a reality for nearly 4000 years. Even when most of the Jewish people were scattered throughout the world for the last 2000 years there has always remained a small number of Israeli Jews holding on to the Land's deed for posterity's sake. A little over sixty years ago, the claim, always held in the hands of Jews, was formally recognized by the nations of the world and Israel was, not reborn, but resurrected back to life as the official homeland and nation of the Jewish people. After two millennium we had a place we could go back to and one that lay waiting for us to come home when called.

Hundreds of thousands of Jewish people have answered that call since 1948 when David Ben Gurion blew the shofar and opened the gate. In 1967 the gate to the Western Wall was thrown wide and for the first time since 70 CE Jews could pray near our most beloved site of all, the last remaining vestige of Solomon's Temple.

Those few hundered thousand have, by 2012, swelled to nearly six million Jewish inhabitants of the Land and they are growing each day. What was a barren desert has been turned into a garden once again. The Land, under the harsh and burdensome control of Rome, the Ottomans, the British, Muslim and Christian Arabs had laid waste for centuries. It grew nothing and was barely useful for Bedouin herds that drifted aimlessly across it. Since 1948 the Land has blossomed under the tender care of its rightful leasers, the Jews.

You see, this Land belongs directly to no one but God. God has granted the lease and entrusted its care to the offspring of Abraham, Sarah and Isaac - people that have come to be known as the Jews. You may not agree with that assessment, and quite frankly, I could care less if you do or don't. The facts of history are on the side of the Jews. This Land has never prospered under the protection and care of anyone except the Jews. History is replete with that fact. Today, after two thousand years of it being nothing but a dust bowl it has emerged once again as a beautiful Rose.

Like any rose it has its share of thorns. Those thorns have been pricking the sides of Israelis since the resurrection of the Land. The nation has withstood those spiney stings since its right to exist was proclaimed in the United Nations in 1948. Sometime the wounds from them have been severe, such as the Yom Kippur War of 1973. Many individual heroes have succumed to the wounds inflicted by those thorns but they have not been forgotten or lost in vain. The onslaught of the thorns continues to this day and the nations of the world still call on the Jews of Israel to be patient and withhold its wrath against those who relentlessly attack her.

The Jewish people of Israel and those of us living throughout the rest of the world have been very patient. However, I cannot guarantee how much longer that patients will hold. With one of the biggest thorns in the patch getting ready to create its own nuclear weapon the time for patients is quickly running out. With the continued onslaught from Hamas from the South and now Syrian threats from the North, the days of civility from Israel is drawing to a close, and rightfully so.

I have been reading several "academic" debates in the U.S. and Western Europe about what is currently taking place in Israel with the most recent rocket attacks from Gaza coming into Southern Israel and Syrian bombs being exploded just short of the Golan. Each debate seemed more focused on imploring Israel to exercise more patients and little to no call for Hamas or Syrian forces and insurgents to cease their heinous attacks on Israel's civilian population.

I suppose these academic's views are certainly one way of looking at it. However, if you are sitting with your family for a quite dinner or around the table with your children going over their homework and suddenly your house, family and life disappears from an unprovoked Hamas rocket attack or your kibbutz is obliterated in seconds from a Syrian shell then perhaps you'd have a slightly different view of the situation.

I would like to pose this question. How long do you think the U.S. citizenry would patiently put up with this kind of activity if some country like a Cuba or Mexico were lobbing shells into Florida and Texas, Arizona or New Mexico? America would have already justifiably decimated or completely unannihilated them. Israel has been more than patient over the last sixty-plus years with those surrounding her, but that patience does have its limits and those limits are about to be reached very soon. When that day comes, and it will, who will you stand with? Israel or those wishing her destruction? God forbid your nation should choose to be an enemy of Israel.

If It Looks Like a Duck....

There is an old adage, "If it looks like a duck, smells like a duck and walks like a duck, then it must be a duck." This same sentiment could easily be applied to the House of Representative's attempt to investigate the 9/11 Benghazi incident and the alleged Obama Administration's attempts at thwarting it.

Two of the House's most sought after witnesses in this case are General David Petraeus and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. We all should by now be familiar with how the Petraeus testimony is being side-tracked. He had a confessed-to affair with a journalist who was under investigation by the FBI. This supposed real affair began sometime back when she was entrenched with the General for an up close and personal biography she had planned on doing on him. The up close and personal got too up close and personal. She is also being investigated for allegedly trying to hack into the General's email account during his tenure as head of the CIA. Just as the General was due to testify into the CIA's knowledge and participation, or lack thereof, of his agency's involvement with the Benghazi mess that left our Ambassador and three others raped and dead in the streets of Libya, he publically steps down in humiliation over the sexual affair and his testimony before Congress is put on indefinite hold.

That leaves just one other really high-up and top level witness. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who just several weeks ago took full responsibility for the debacle due to her position as the head of the State Department. Or, as many were saying, Ms. Clinton not only was thrown under the bus by her President, but willingly walked out in front of it, which is very un-Clintonesque. Today, according to a report in the Washington Examiner the Secretary of State stated she will not be testifying before Congress as requested due to scheduling conflicts. “She has a commitment with the Secretary of Defense to the AUSMIN Ministerial,” says State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland. “AUSMIN is the highest level forum for Australia and US consultation on foreign policy, defense and strategic issues.”

So then, what we have been told and are expected to accept unequivocally is that the AUSMIN Ministerial has a higher priority in the mindset of the Obama Administration than the investigation into how Ambassador Stevens and three other American's were slaughtered in Benghazi. I guess this conference was just too much for our Secretary of Defense to handle on his own without the aid and assistance of a Hillary Clinton.

If it looks like a coverup, smells like a coverup and walks like a coverup, then.....

Rodney Kinging in Congress

The 2012 elections are now over and all of a sudden Republican and Democratic members of the House and Senate are appearing on news talk shows sounding conciliatory, appeasing and all Rodney Kinging.

What was over the last four years an economic and financial impossibility is now surprisingly doable according to elected folk like Senators Kent Conrad, Bob Corken and Dianne Feinstein, as well as, Representatives Tom Price and Chris Van Hollen. What am I talking about? Democrats and Republicans actually considering working together with the President to bring the country’s economic bus to a screeching halt before it plunders over the inevitable fiscal cliff awaiting us on January 1, 2013.

This “fiscal cliff” has been looming for quite some time now but is only now capturing the attention of our elected officials and the mainstream media. And what do we have? Those who have been so diametrically opposed for the last four important years talking like they may come together like the calvary over the hill in these last few waning weeks before the injun’s hatchet gets wielded into the head of our fiscal well being.

I’m left with wondering why these geniuses on Capital Hill and the White House think they can fix something in just seven weeks of a lame duck session that they failed to do in four years.

Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner says that while he is willing to compromise to get those on the other side of the aisle and President Obama talking with his party about how to fix the problem he is still adamant about not allowing a tax rate hike on upper income-earners. Boehner, at least to the press, is sticking to his stance that a real pro-growth tax reform means cutting loopholes while at the same time lowering or keeping rates at current levels is what is needed to lead this country back to a Clinton-era strong economy. He and other Republicans continue pushing the example of the well proven 1986 Reagan Tax Reform Act that if you have a stronger economy you get more revenue without the need to raise tax rates. I agree with him, but more importantly, some Democrats are also now leaning in that direction as well. Some on the blue side of the aisle are beginning to realize that if they follow the blueprint that calls for cutting these loopholes for the rich while keeping current rates where they are, then everything the President wants will be gotten without driving this nation into a devastating recession.

I only have two questions for all members of Congress and our President:

1. Mr. President. Are you so hell-bent on raising tax rates in order to foster your blinded faith in redistribution of wealth that you can’t see the forest for the trees and the recessional danger this brings to our economy, or, do you have some kind of crystal ball that grants you a wisdom greater than the experts and allows you to defy all economic logic and push for more tax hikes?

2. Members of both sides in Congress. If this is so damn doable now, why in hell wasn’t it doable four years ago, or two years ago, or one year ago, or right before the election last week?

Those of us who are baby boomers remember what life was like for America in the 1950's and 1960's under the constant threat of annihilation from a nuclear Soviet Union as it flexed its muscle and spread throughout Eastern Europe. However, those living behind the infamous iron curtain during the era of the Cold War under Soviet control can speak from real experience and have a unique perspective on what an empire of oppression looks like. Here is a brief article that was recently placed in the Prague newspaper, Prager Zeitungon. We in America would do well to read, take heed and learn something from this bit of wisdom.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America."

"Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President."

"I Want My Stuff!"

President Barack Obama has been reelected to another four year term as the President of the United States and leader of a waning free world. A slim majority gave him the victory over Governor Mitt Romney. The House and Senate remain virtually unchanged. This narrow victory doesn't give the President or Congress a mandate, nevertheless, a check in the win column is still a win.

I'm not stunned by last night's outcome but I am disappointed in my America, if I can still call it that. I come from a generation that believed in the John F. Kennedy mantra, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." I find myself increasingly being surrounded by a generation chanting a whole new and strange mantra, "Where's my entitled government stuff?"

This 2012 election proved beyond any reasonable doubt that lurking behind the scene and the facade of political business as usual, there is a massive ideological civil war going on in this nation and it's being waged between urban and rural America.

The political map shows a sea of red from West to East coast with small blotches of blue scattered throughout the heavily populated urban centers in the United States. It was these urban areas that garnered Mr. Obama his narrow win over Romney and they are growing more liberal and socialistic every year while the rest of the country remains solidly conservative yet in dwindling numbers.

Can this momentum from the left be halted or slowed? I'm not as sure as I use to be. I still hold out hope for this country with the rise of younger leaders like Marco Rubio, Nikki Haley, Bobby Jindal and Paul Ryan. However, by the time they are seasoned enough to fill the big shoes it may be too little too late to stop America's current declining slide into failed European socialism this President and 51% of American's appear to want. Time alone will tell.

So then, what can we expect over the next four years? Short of Congress trying to impeach this President over Benghazi, this is what I see happening. The Balance of Power on Capital Hill is basically unchanged and unless the President pulls a surprise Clinton and moves to govern from the center (not likely), there will be no change at all. The Middle Class will continue to shrink, taxes will climb up on everyone, a federal budget isn't likely, the deficit will skyrocket, Obama will govern more and more via Executive Orders and his scary promise to Russia's leadership - "When I'm reelected I'll have more leverage," - hangs over the head of every conservative, constititutional, freedom loving American.

There is one bright side to all this: Those free cell phones and food stamps will be available for everyone wanting their "STUFF!"

Is the Race For President Really a Tight One?

I must admit that I am having a difficult time understanding how this 2012 presidential election can be as close as the polls and news networks say it is. Just four days before the election most of the media have it split to around 48% Obama and 47% Romney.

How can an intelligent American voter, with all the exposure to this campaign that is available to him or her, and in all good conscience vote for a person who has quadrupled the national debt in just under four years? How does that record make for a tight race?

How can intelligent working women who are single and climbing that corporate ladder or have kids, and in many cases are the sole breadwinner of the home, vote for a man who spouts equal pay for equal work but has female members of his own staff and administration making less than their male counterparts who do the same or similar jobs? I also thought women in general loathed arrogant men who promise but don't deliver. You'll not find a more arrogant man than the current President and he has failed on over 80% of the promises he made during his campaign four years ago. How do intelligent women vote for a man like that?

How can an intelligent person vote for a person who has yet to take responsibility for anything that has gone wrong during his tenure, particularly when they have led to the deaths of those he was commissioned to protect and defend, and yet quickly takes full credit for what very few things have gone right.

How can an intelligent voter cast a ballot for any person who has allowed the unemployment rate to be at its highest point fours years in a row, that's nearly forty-eight months? It has been over ten years since this has occurred and it has happened during his watch over the nation's economy.

Fundamentally the world really isn't any different than it was ten years ago. Wars are still being waged. Weather is still just as sporadic and unpredictable. Dictators are still killing their people and threatening the rest of the world. The financial markets continue their long and continued trends of steady ups and downs with occasional wide swings. So what is different now? What's different is there is an unsteady and untried hand at the wheel. Not only that, the free world is being led by a person with a whole different set of values and standards that have been the hallmark of America's free market and liberty loving foundation. That is what has changed, nothing else. And that change has thrown this nation into chaos, unpredictability, apprehension, ill ease and is leading it down the path to the same failed economic future Europe has been trodding for the last forty years. We all know where that trail leads in the end.

If the polls are correct and if this race is as tight as the media would lead us to believe then I am left with only one conclusion - at least 48% of the U.S. population are complete idiots hell-bent on self destruction.

Uptick or Stagnation?

The Obama press is making a concerted effort to give the latest jobs report a positive spin. The Huffington Post says, "U.S. Adds 171,000 Jobs As Unemployment Rate At 7.9 Percent." The MSNBC Obama Network gleefully proclaims, "U.S. Adds 171,000 Jobs As Unemployment Rate At 7.9 Percent."

If I were Mike Meyers I'd be very verklemmt at the moment. How can this be spinned as good news for the economy? President Barack Obama has had four years to turn this economy around and the best he can show for it is a 7.9% unemployment rate and a paltry 171,000 new jobs added to the roles since the last jobs report? This isn't something to be lauded or praised as a great accomplishment but every headline should be reading "Economy Remains in STAGNATION with a return UPWARD to the UNEMPLOYMENT RATE!"

That reality headline isn't anything you are likely to ever read from a liberal media that is so in bed with and invested so heavily for an Obama reelection. So, what we get instead is a very watered-down version of what is really happening and thankfully candidate Mitt Romney has called it for what it is. It would seem that Romney is the only person out there willing to live in the real world. After the release of this latest jobs report he correctly stated that the U.S. economy is at a "virtual standstill." Sadly, the majority of so-called news outlets are either ignoring this fact or relagating his comments to page 2 of their political sections while at the same time plastering their great lie all over their front pages. One thing is a reality: If this same kind of a jobs report appears during Romney's watch as President it's a guarantee MSNBC, CBS, ABC, Politico, The Huffington Post and CNN will plaster it all over every page of their media and be in non-stop conversation over the abject failure of the Romney economic plan from day one.

Unemployment numbers in bold print reflect unemployment rates under President Obama's first 4 year term in office. They are the highest recorded in over 10 years. The left's great Satan and nemesis George W. Bush kept the rates below 7.0% during his 8 years as President. Sometime, the buck simply stops at your desk Mr. Obama, so stop trying to pass that buck.

Some Humans Are Simply Irredeemable

I was in a discussion about the inhumanity of man and felt it necessary to respond to someone trying to blame conservative Republicans and "tea baggers" for fostering the ridiculous idea that it is God's will when a woman is raped and gets pregnant as a result of that violent traumatic experience on her life.

This well intentioned person was trying to make a political issue out of a criminal act and it simply got to me. I kind of verbally laid into him.

God's will has nothing to do with a woman getting raped and pregnant. And, yes, the misguided soul that thinks this is fodder for a political debate was correct about one thing, only someone stupid would think or believe such a thing was the result of God's will. But, I have to add that only someone stupid or incredibly insensitive would try to make a political issue out of it. It was a man's will to rape a woman, not some God's.

It's time we humans grew up and started taking responsibility for our own actions. The days of blaming a god or devil are done. It is also time for all of us to grow the hell up and quit making these kinds of criminal and inhumane acts of mankind a springboard for a political agenda and platform. This has nothing to do with Democrats, Republicans, "tea baggers," liberals or conservatives and lowering it to that level only demeans and makes it worse. It does little or nothing to address the real problem. It has to do with certain despicable, lowlife, unrepentant, unchanging and irredeemable human beings who need to be put down like the rabid animals they are....no more, no less.

Andrea Mitchell Gets It Wrong AGAIN!

NBC News/MSNBC Network news journalist and commentator Andrea Mitchell is right there all over the story surrounding Mitt Romney's humanitarian effort while he was in Ohio campaigning during the tragic aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Governor Romney was collecting thousands of canned goods and other foodstuffs for disaster relief, encouraging his supporters at the rallies to give all that they could in the way of food, clothing and other humanitarian aid to the victims of this record-breaking storm.

Mitchell went out of her way to report that what Romney was doing was not needed by the Red Cross, but would only hinder their relief efforts. She spent a great deal of time explaining how the Red Cross would be slowed down by the great influx of these canned goods and other much needed relief items and that what was really needed from everyone was money and blood. I was waiting for her charts and graphs to prove her point, but thankfully they never appeared.

Perhaps Ms. Mitchell missed the Governor's all important announcement to his supporters in which he frequently and loudly proclaimed, Please, "send in a check to the Red Cross" as soon as possible.

If only Mitchell and other so-called reporters of her ilk would have spent such indepth reporting on such man-made terroists disasters like Benghazi or the huge government waste of billions of dollars on bankrupt "green industries" that the Obama administration invested American taxpayers money on, then perhaps I would care why she and others in her camp would spend so much reporting time on how Mr. Romney decides to spend his time trying to help give relief to those devastated by a natural disaster.

You decide - which is real news that should occupy a reporter's time: Obama's mangling and coverup of Benghazi and failed green investments of taxpayer monies, or, Mr. Romney's collecting of food, clothes, blankets and call for checks to be sent to the Red Cross.

"Our Country, America"

A seventh grader at a Nebraska small town public school, wrote “Our Country, America” as an essay to America’s Pledge of Allegiance. Her piece won her the Veterans of Foreign Wars essay contest, as well as becoming Nebraska's statewide winner. This young student's message of hope and commitment is one many adults need to be reminded of.

Our Country, America

I pledge allegiance to the flag:

At school, sixth graders raise the flag for the elementary school and our day begins when we recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The pledge is a promise to never give up hope and always be true to our country.

Of the United States of America:

Our flag is a symbol of unity. The red and white stripes represent the original 13 colonies. White symbolizes purity and red is for the blood that was shed. The 50 stars represent the 50 states. The stars are on a field of blue. Blue stands for justice and freedom and unites the stars like a family. The family of states is called a nation.

And to the Republic for which it stands:

I also pledge my loyalty to our government. It is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. It is formed around our constitution and is protected by our military. Our military protects the rights of every American. I hold a special place in my heart for veterans who have served our country and have protected me. I place my hand over my heart when I say the pledge to honor our veterans.

One nation, under God,:

I believe God is mightier and more powerful than one state, or even one nation. God holds the whole world in His hands.

Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Our 50 states cannot be divided! We are a map of millions of people who are treated equally. Everyone is promised the freedom to life, liberty, and happiness. Each of us should be treated fairly and justly. No one will be treated differently because of how we look, where we live or how much money we have. Liberty and justice is for all.

Romney Handley Wins Final Debate

The third and final 2012 Presidential Debate is over. With just two weeks left before the general election this exhausting campaign year will soon be over and on November 7 the world will know which path to the future American's have chosen for themselves. Will it be four more years of failed economic policies under Barack Obama, or will the majority of those in the United States say they have placed their hopes and votes in former Governor and CEO Mitt Romney? As far as this last debate is concerned, one in which foreign policy was the leading topic of discussion, I am of the humble but honest opinion that Romney never looked more Presidential than he did in tonight's final debate. And because of that alone, he won the debate. Obama came to attack, insult and belittle the Governor, however, Romney didn't take the bait which threw-off the President's game plan. As a result Obama ended up and came off as defensive, rushed and worried.

While giving the President his just due on his foreign policies that have succeeded, Romney came across as very well informed on foreign affairs and was also able to reiterate, with clarity, the four years of overwhelming Obama failure in domestic, economic and foreign policy.

As a thirteen year military veteran I did take issue with President Obama's attempt at sarcasm aimed at Mr. Romney when he tried, but failed, to belittle the Governor's knowledge of "just how the military works." I believe it's the current Commander and Chief that needs a bit more of a military education. For starters, just to clarify the inaccuracy of the President's comments concerning the use of horses and bayonets. In certain arenas of combat today in the U.S. Army Calvary, they still use the tried and true horse. Also, Marines routinely still use bayonets as a vital part of their weaponry. One other thing Mr. Obama needs is lessons in military lingo. Submarines are not "ships that go under water," they are correctly referred to as boats. You'd think a real Commander and Chief would know that. While this may seem nit-picking to some, I think it is another case of showing just how out of touch with the reality of his job this President is.

There were some comments on various social media sites applauding President Obama for showing his ability to put out the bullshit and make it eatable for the general public in this debate. I agree that when it comes to slinging bullshit, next to Bill Clinton, Obama is a very close second. But people, at least those with any kind of intelligence and real concern for the future of this nation, have grown tired of the BO-BS and want someone who can get this country back on the track to greatness. After these three debates and a horrific four year record as President, I believe the answer to who can get that job done has been answered. The man for the job is Mitt Romney.

2nd Presidential Debate A Virtual Tie

The second historic 2012 Presidential Debate is now in the hands of history and the fact checkers. The CNN scientific poll of registered voters who actually watched the debate gave a slim margin of victory to President Obama, which comes as no surprise to most after his stunning deadpan performance in the first debate a few weeks ago. And, while this slight win will likely slow down the loss of the enthusiasm factor that had begun after that first debate the President did little to help his campaign overall. Why? Because his speaking ability and generally successful pontificating doesn't have the same effect on people now that he has an actual dismal four year record he cannot defend.

There is another serious problem for the President. Although CNN's poll gave the President a scant win, most other polls showed the debate a virtual tie between the candidates or a slight win for Romney. The CBS News poll was also basically a tie which really doesn't help Obama after the trouncing he received the first go around. But, that isn't the real problem for the President. When those polled were asked specific questions, especially those related to the number one concerns for the American voter, the economy, healthcare and taxes, Mr. Romney beat out the President by very large margins. Romney scored in the upper 40% and lower 50% on everyone of those crucial issues while Obama remained in the lower to upper 30% range. Based on those numbers alone if voters check off their ballots on November 6 with the economy the number one agenda on their minds Mitt Romney will be the next President of the United States of America.

The second problem for the President was his outright lying during this debate, something the media and fact checkers will be talking about, questioning and arguing over for the next week until the third and final debate which takes place on October 22. The President's two biggest lies dealt with the events surrounding the killing of our American Ambassador and three other Americans in Libya and the other had to do with his actions as President in curtailing permits for drilling on land and off shore for oil and natural gas. What damages him the most on these two issues is just how easily they can be fact checked. It will not require a lot of digging in dungy old records to discover how far he strayed from the truth on these two important issues. Even Candy Crowley, the moderator of the debate, after inappropriately defending the President in his lie about him stating the day after the Benghazi attacks that he called them an act of terror, later that evening after the debate when CNN's own fact checkers corrected her, admitted that she spoke out of turn and the President was wrong while Mitt Romney was absolutely correct in his statement about what really took place. All I can say on that matter to Ms. Crowley is better late than never.

Exactly what kind of impact will this debate have on the current stats? Probably very little. Obama did continue Vice President Biden's shoring up his base but really didn't do much to get any more independent or undecided voters on his side. Mr. Romney really didn't do anything to hurt himself but he also didn't gain much either with this performance. And, if you believe a few of the focus groups that each network had on hand Romney may have picked up a few, but not many, of the undecideds due to his reiteration of Obama's failed economic policies and the few more specifics about his 5-Point Plan to fix the mess created by Obama and the Washington establishment.

So, it's off to the next and last debate next Monday which will deal almost entirely on foreign policy. Many conservatives were kind of blasting Romney for not jumping all over the President in this second debate and for not hammering Obama about what did and didn't take place in Benghazi last month. However, I think Mr. Romney will more that adequately get his chance to do this on October 22nd and it will be in a setting far more appropriate and conducive for driving the point home of just how much of a failure Mr. Obama's foreign policies have been and just how much he has weakened this country in the eyes of both our allies and enemies across the globe.

Romney's Economic Plan Not Difficult to Comprehend

If there is one thing Democrats and those on the left love to do, especially during an election year, is to try and make things appear a lot more confusing than they actually are. A point of reference is their take on the Mitt Romney economic plan he will put in place if he is elected President of the United States of America.

They love to mislead, call into question, demonize and cloud his plan with platitudes, false accusations and 2 minute sound bites that declare the Republican candidate isn't being specific about what his plan is.

So, with that in mind let me simplify the Romney Economic Plan for those with even a limited amount of intelligence, which would include the majority on the ultra-left and ultra-right of this issue - in other words - I will dumb it down for them. Those reading this with even an average economic intelligence please forgive me for needing to resort to this kind of kindergarten presentation of such an important issue.

THE ROMNEY PLAN - Spelled out for the unenlightened

Plan #1 - Remove the Estate Tax

This is one of the most corrosive taxes in American history. It literally eats away at those who live by the adage "a penny saved is a penny earned." It penalizes those who SAVE their money. In the year 2013 it will increase from its ridiculously high rate of 35% to a highway robbery level of 55% for those considered high income savers. Those being hurt most by this gun-to-the-head tax are landowners, such as farmers. Their land is considered an estate whether it is profitable or not. Today, thanks in large part to government regulations, owning acreage isn't an asset but has turned into a liability. Mitt Romney's deletion of the Estate Tax would resolve that unfair government practice.

Plan #2 - Put a Permanent Freeze on Current Tax Rates on Dividends and Capital Gains

This will serve to steady investments in this nation. If, as Obama and his cronies want, the capital gains tax were to be increased above its current levels massive borrowing against the U.S. debt would ensue and the everyday Mom and Pop investors, which consists of mostly the hard working diminishing middle class, would begin to see big losses on their dividend returns from municipality, electrical and water system bonds and other dividend incurred investments.

Plan #3 - Bring Down ALL Income Tax Levels by 20%

This would be a huge stimulus to the national economy. One that would affect all workers in this nation, not just the banks and big corporations which benefitted from the Bush/Obama stimulus plan. Why? Because unlike the previous stimulus plans this one is an across the board tax cut by 20% to all working Americans. If you work in the United States and earn a pay check your income tax rate will be cut by as much as 20%....Period! I don't know how much simpler an explanation is needed to grasp the boost this will give to the economy. People with 20% more working cash in their pockets each month can invest more, buy more, and do more to ensure the growth of the economy. Reagan proved that by cutting taxes you do increase government revenue because with more funds available for spending and investing and business growth - revenues actually increase. He was right and proved it and so is Mitt Romney. One plus one still equals two.

Plan #4 - Bring That Overseas Money Back Home

Dubbed the Repatriation Tax Act this plan of Mitt Romney's would encourage those corporations who have been less than enthusiastic about Obama's and the liberal left's business adroitness to not have to pay a second tax on money earned or made overseas. Currently any company doing business outside the United States pays the hosting country whatever the tax is for profits gained in that country. That seems fair enough. If you do business in a foreign land you should be subject to the taxes of that land. What is unfair is the tax imposed on those same profits whenever all or a portion of those funds are returned for reinvestment in the United States. These are not monies made in the United States but are monies being used by corporations to invest back into this country. It is an unfair practice. If that invested money makes a profit for the corporation in the United States then that gain is fair game for taxation, but not the gains from another country that are returned by the corporation for investment in American enterprises. Removal of this double-taxation policy would free corporations to return gains from abroad to the United States to help economic growth and stimulation of the American economy. As long as the current practice of double taxation on overseas profits brought back to America continue companies will be reluctant to reinvest those overseas corporate gains in America. There is simply too much of a downside. What the left has always failed to grasp about the free enterprise system is that profit benefits all, not just the wealthy few.

Plan #5 - A Corporate Tax Reduction

Mitt Romney would cut corporate taxes down to around 25% plus or minus a percentage point in either direction. This is the part of the plan that the Democrats on the left hate the most because as the Jihadist see America as the Great Satan, for the liberal left in America the Giant Corporations are the Great Satan of this nation. Of course both the Jihadist and liberal left have gotten it all wrong. Currently the top end corporate tax rate is around 36%. That is a ridiculous amount already and if Obama and his left-leaning cronies have it their way, by 2016 it will have risen to nearly 50%. In other words half of everything earned by a corporation would end up in the government coiffures and we all know how well the government manages money. During this election campaign Obama has stated that he would lower the corporate rate to 25%. That is a good start, if it weren't for the fact that it is just another lame and lying campaign promise like "Change and Openness" that he never intends to keep. His real goal is that 50% mark for future corporate taxation. Why is this part of Romney's Plan so important? Because, as important as Plans 1-4 are, none of this will have the kind of positive impact on the American economy and its future growth as cutting corporate taxes will. Romney and even those with an average understanding of economic affairs know that the driving force behind any country's economy is the success and failure of its privately owned corporations, both large and small. If a company fails, the nation looses. If a company succeeds then the country hosting it benefits greatly. And, the number one cause of failure in most companies isn't poor product or mismanagement, its government over-taxation of its investment to profit margin. Recent studies have shown that the number one factor behind the great corporate exodus to other countries is this overburdensome corporate tax policy practiced by the United States government. Mitt Romney's economic plan puts a lid on that tax and turns down the burner before it causes an economic explosion this country may never recover from.

This is the Mitt Romney Economic Plan simplified so that even those on the extreme left and ultra-right can understand it. This plan will bring back America from the precipice of economic disaster that the Bush/Obama plans have placed us into. If Mitt Romney isn't elected the next President of the United States then what happens in this nation will make Europe's current fiasco look enviable.

Secretary of State Clinton Takes Blame - What's the Plan?

In a rare and uncharacteristic moment Secretary of State Hillary Clinton finally has come forward and admitted that she, and not the U.S. Intelligence Community, was at fault for the lack of security for Ambassador Stevens and those very few marines who died trying to protect him from a well planned terrorist attack on September 11, 2012 in Benghazi, Libya. Clinton stated that because she is the head of the State Department of the United States the "buck stops here" with her.

Thank you Madam Secretary for stating the obvious and for admitting to a cold hard truth that 95% of Americans and the rest of the world were already very aware of. Instead of an admission of guilt and a vague reference to a great man like Harry S. Truman, what you should be doing is offering up your letter of resignation to President Obama right now.

So, since you are a Clinton, and we all know that neither you are your husband, former President Bill Clinton, do anything without fully weighing the political pros and cons, let's look to see what this is really all about.

I thought the timing of your admission was telling. One day before the next Presidential Debate, a critical time for Mr. Obama as he would have had to face some hard and possibly embarrassing questions about the Benghazi incident from those in the Town Hall audience and especially Mr. Romney. Now that you have so publicly fess'd up to your role and responsibility in this matter, the President is kind of off the hook since, as you said, in matters of the State Department "the buck stops" with you. Kudos to you and the Obama campaign for coming up with this strategic deflection. Of course, had you and the President done your job as you should have Ambassador Stevens and those brave young men with him would still be alive and we wouldn't being going over this topic.

Some are comparing this to Watergate and actually referring to it as Benghazi-gate. I would ask all those doing so to please stop it now. It belittles the importance of just how awfully wrong Clinton was, as well as those who have tried to cover it up. Nobody died in Watergate, that was a simple break-in and burglary gone bad. This was murder and rape of our Ambassador and American citizens on American soil. Watergate was not an act of war. What took place in Libya on September 11 was.

I want to step out onto that shaky political limb and make a prediction concerning the timing, the uncharacteristic behavior and real reason behind Clinton's admission of guilt. I already alluded to one of the reasons - it allows the sting of Romney's Benghazi arrows to be deflected away from President Obama just one day before the next big debate. This doesn't help Clinton directly but does buy her political points and some leverage for any future political career plans she may be entertaining.

Hillary Clinton is playing this game very tightly and holding the flame close to her chest, as Bill was also famous for doing. I predict that Ms. Clinton will resign her position as Secretary of

State. The only unknown is when this will occur and that depends on what happens on November 6. If President Obama gets reelected look for him to ask for her resignation before Inauguration Day on January 20 so that he can get the road cleared for the Senate to approve his new nominee for the position. In the event that this is the scenario then Clinton's days as a political player are over, and knowing Hillary this isn't her option of choice. I believe she is hoping the President loses this election. She can finish out her term as Secretary of State, try to smooth out some of the damage done to her over Benghazi, mend political fences surrounding her within her own party and quietly set a course for another bid for the White House in four years. As in times past she is counting on the short-term memory loss that most Americans suffer from when it comes to politicians. And besides, she will have four years of elite media support, time to rewrite history and make it appear that her former boss tied her hands and like a good team player she took the hit for the good of the team and country.

At the moment she is playing the dutiful team mate, just like she played the role of the perfect help mate and stood by her man when Bill "didn't have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky." She knows and has calculated that for there to be a winning score for her at the end of this game Mr. Obama has to loose this election and that is what she is secretly hoping will happen.

A Tribute To Arlen Specter

As a former resident of the great State of Pennsylvania I wanted to pay a tribute to Senator Arlen Specter who died today at the age of 82.

Specter died of cancer, a long-fought battle that he tried to never let interfere with his governance in the Senate. Arlen served as a Senator longer than any other Pennsylvania elected Senator, and as much as I liked the man, he was a perfect example of the need for term limits being placed on members of Congress. Some other great examples of this were Senators Strom Thurman and Robert Byrd.

For 30 years the Senator served the State of Pennsylvania first as a Democrat then a Republican, and most recently, he returned to the Democratic party. In his early days in politics he was considered a moderate, for which I greatly admired him as it is very difficult to remain in the calm middle of most stormy issues in Washington D.C. Because of that I voted for him in two elections but by his third term I could no longer support his bid. However, like Senator Lieberman of Connecticut and Senator McCain of Arizona, for many years Specter waded through those tricky waters whose currents always tend to pull to the left or right, and gave Pennsylvanians a moderate, steady hand with his vote and legislations. However, over the last few years Specter, either due to a weakening of his physical strength from his battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, or the numbing of his mind from a combination of chemotherapy and the continued onslaught from the more aggressive left in his State, the Senate floor and the White House, the Senator began drifting from his safe harbor of moderate sound judgment in the direction of the left. In fact, the pull on him became so great toward the end that he changed parties mid-term and became a tail-wagging Democrat voting for nearly every Obama leftist package that came up for a vote. While it was not surprising to see Specter decide differently from whatever party he was in at the time, because this was a time honored practice by him, this time it really felt different.

One of the most telltale signs of his slip from reality occurred during his last reelection effort. He held a town hall meeting where one of the elderly participants tried to offer up a rational conversation about healthcare and the impact that Obamacare would have on his personal life and income. Totally out of character, Specter was in the man's face yelling, finger pointing and decidedly telling the man to basically shut up and sit down. Something had happened to Arlen Specter and it wasn't pretty nor was it Specter.

Another surprise from Specter during his last run for Senate was the two reasons he gave for making the switch from the Republican side of the aisle to the Democrat side. Speaking in an interview the Senator stated that after many years of negotiating legislation he felt that he was "increasingly at odds with the Republican philosophy." That is not too enlightening since this is usually the reason given by all politicians who switch parties. But, in another interview he revealed something quite startling. In a rare moment of clarity he said, "My change in party will enable me to be re-elected." That was truly as eye-opener, at least for me. This was so un-Arlen-like. The Senator I knew and voted for on two separate occasions would have never resorted to such a low blow reason for doing anything so politically manipulative. Something was going on with Arlen and this was just one more indication that after all those years and nearing the end of his career and life, the man was becoming a stranger to his constituents.

So, how did his new fellow Democrats pay back Arlen for his big voting support and party switch? He lost his primary bid to another Democrat running against him, the decorated military leader and U.S. Representative retired Vice Admiral Joe Sestak. This was actually a good thing for both Arlen Specter and the people of Pennsylvania. Arlen had changed and it was time to replace him on the Senate floor with someone a bit more stable and reliable.

Senator Arlen Specter had a long and illustrious career as a politician and servant of the people of the State of Pennsylvania and the United States of America. Despite the changes over these last few years that he exhibited I still liked and respected the man for his honesty, integrity, rebellious character and witty charm. He stood on the threshold of history by being a participant in the Warren Commission, fought hard as a member of the Appropriations Committee and got funding for stem-cell research and breast cancer against all odds during the George W. Bush presidency and fought hard for the rights of Pennsylvania miners.

Rest in Peace Arlen Specter.

JFK and Paul Ryan on the Same Tax Page

John F. Kennedy proves Congressman Paul Ryan was right about tax cuts in our time just like Ryan said in Thursday night's Vice Presidential Debate. So, yes Vice President Biden, while Ryan may not be JFK, he and President Kennedy are certainly on the same tax page.

Of course, the bigger question Mr. Vice President is..Why aren't you?

Biden Lies, Ducks and Covers

Biggest revelation from 2012 VP Debate? Biden open-faced lies about Ambassador Steven's request for more security and Biden throws U.S.Intelligence Community under the bus.

2012 Vice Presidential Debate - Biden vs Ryan

"When a wise man debates with a fool, the fool rages and laughs, and there is no peace and quiet" Proverbs 29:9

You will see the importance of this bit of wisdom after viewing the VP Debate.

CNN scientific poll of registered voters most likely to vote gave the winner of the debate to Republican Congressman Paul Ryan. Ryan at 48% and Biden at 44%.

Obama vs Romney - The First Presidential Debate

I have little doubt that the fact-checkers will be pouring over the comments made by both candidates in last night’s first Presidential Debate between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. There will be plenty for them to check on, at least from Romney’s statements, because the Governor came more than prepared with figures, statistics and material which left the president looking like a deer staring into the headlights of an oncoming 18-wheeler - at least from the once-in-a-blue moon moments when Mr. Obama looked up from gazing at the table-top of his podium.

Last night was a big one for the former Governor from Massachusetts. He was articulate, prepared, knowledgable, respectful and most importantly - likable. The one big hurtle that Mitt Romney had to face before this debate was making the American people believe he wasn’t out-of-touch with their concerns and to come across like a guy you wouldn’t feel uncomfortable with sitting down in your local pub and having a brew with. Romney did just that, so the Obama campaign’s efforts to paint Romney as just the opposite, a strategy that polls have been showing was quite successful, has once and for all been taken off the table. The real Mitt Romney has finally been revealed to the 60-plus million viewers of this first debate and the overwhelming verdict is, “hey, we kind of like this guy.”

The format for this debate was new to the presidential debate forum. It allowed each candidate a lot more freedom to actually debate instead of just answering moderator questions in a setting more reminiscent of a glorified press conference than an actual dialectic between political rivals.

Mitt Romney came out strong immediately. He was prepared to discuss every aspect of the economy. Barack Obama seemed lost without his teleprompter. He wasn’t that engaged, appeared lost at times and simply wasn’t on his game. He came across as someone who simply wished to be somewhere else. Also, when Romney set forth his economic plan and tax policies it looked like he was a university professor of economics teaching his student, Barack Obama, the basics of Economics 101. The president was actually taking notes vigorously just like a student learning from a wise and seasoned teacher. It was quite remarkable to watch.

The president shared nothing new, made no excuses for his lackluster and disappointing four years in office, never once went for Romney’s jugular or mentioned Bain Capital or Romney’s taken out of context 47% statement a few weeks ago. It was almost like the president resigned himself to the fact that he just didn’t have a record to stand on, so why even bother to try and defend it. The best he could tell the American people was to give him another four years to try and do better, to which Romney respectfully reminded the president that while the American people or very forgiving, they are hurting badly and the status quo will not do, it is time for real change, not just a platitude or campaign promise of change.

When the debate was over you could almost see a real look of “thank God” on the president’s face. At the conclusion of their first meeting in Denver, both candidates will be heading back out on to the campaign trail. Next week is the Vice Presidential debate between Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan. That one should be fun to watch as both men can be quite verbal at times.

The news media was busy with their analysis at the conclusion of the debate. The Obama Network, also known as MSNBC, was palsied. Chris Matthews literally lost it on camera. He undoubtedly received no tingle up his leg after this debate and had a face so red I thought he would stroke out. That network spent most of the night having to admit that Mitt Romney overwhelmingly won this debate and bent over backwards to make up excuses for the president's very poor showing. Fox News and CNN were a bit more balanced in their after-debate discussions with CNN revealing their scientific poll of actual registered voters that watched the entire 90+ minute debate. Their poll, that had about a 2% margin of more Republicans then Democrats showed Romney won handedly over Obama with Romney getting 67% and Obama at 25%. Anderson Cooper was quick to point out that even though the poll had a 2% Republican slant, with a 42% difference in the result that minor 2% wasn’t a factor that would skew the final tally. In other words, Romney trounced Obama. I didn’t even bother tuning into ABC, CBS or PBS for their analysis. I watched the debate and the results were quite clear who came to it ready and prepared to speak to the American people.

While his performance in this first debate will give Mr. Romney a slight bump in the polls over the next few days that isn’t the most important thing he will walk away with. The American people got to see Mitt Romney, perhaps the first time for most of them. He came through to their living rooms unfiltered and as a real human being, a quite capable executive and someone very presidential. They didn’t have his character slanted by a campaign ad. They weren’t treated to a view of the man that was painted by his opposition. They got to see the real and personable Mitt Romney. And, that was more advantages than a hundred political advertisements or a thousand sound bites. The American people were able to see he is a flesh and blood guy, a family man, a man who knows what he is talking about, feels their pain and has a plan to bring this nation back on its rightful path of growth and prosperity instead of its current track of “trickle down government.” They got to see, for the first time since Ronald Reagan, a real likable, knowledgeable and contender for president.

Republics Don't Fail, They Are Given Up On

Someone on the Facebook website stated that the Republic is a failed experiment that needs to be changed for something else. His statement was in response to a quote from Benjamin Franklin which stated, "We've given you a Republic, if you can keep it."

My response to the person who said it was a failed experiment?

Well, what would that new and better "something else" be?

Thus far, humankind has tried theocracy - failed; dictatorship - failed; monarchy - failed; pure democracy - failed; communism - failed; socialism - failed; anarchy- failed. In fact the only form of government that has succeeded where all others have failed is a republic. It didn't fail in Rome over 2000 years ago, the Romans traded it in for a dictatorship and it isn't failing in the United States.

Republics never fail, but as Franklin tried to enlighten all its future benefactors - it can only be lost by giving it up and no longer striving to keep it.

Will Free America Always Stand With a Free Israel?

Why any American Jewish voter would ever support President Barack Hussain Obama for reelection to the U.S. presidency is one of the greatest mysteries of mankind. Obama isn't pro-Israel, isn't pro-Free Enterprise, isn't pro-Free Market, isn't pro-Middle Class and certainly isn't pro-Jerusalem as Israel's eternal capital city. Mitt Romney is ALL THE ABOVE. I ask my fellow Jews in America - why not Romney?

Full Video & Text of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's UN Speech - 09/27/2012

It’s a pleasure to see the General Assembly presided by the Ambassador from Israel, and it’s good to see all of you, distinguished delegates.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Three thousand years ago, King David reigned over the Jewish state in our eternal capital, Jerusalem. I say that to all those who proclaim that the Jewish state has no roots in our region and that it will soon disappear. Throughout our history, the Jewish people have overcome all the tyrants who have sought our destruction. It’s their ideologies that have been discarded by history. The people of Israel live on. We say in Hebrew Am Yisrael Chai, and the Jewish state will live forever.

The Jewish people have lived in the land of Israel for thousands of years. Even after most of our people were exiled from it, Jews continued to live in the land of Israel throughout the ages. The masses of our people never gave up the dreamed of returning to our ancient homeland. Defying the laws of history, we did just that. We ingathered the exiles, restored our independence and rebuilt our national life. The Jewish people have come home. We will never be uprooted again.

Yesterday was Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year. Every year, for over three millennia, we have come together on this day of reflection and atonement. We take stock of our past. We pray for our future. We remember the sorrows of our persecution; we remember the great travails of our dispersion; we mourn the extermination of a third of our people, six million, in the Holocaust.

But at the end of Yom Kippur, we celebrate. We celebrate the rebirth of Israel. We celebrate the heroism of our young men and women who have defended our people with the indomitable courage of Joshua, David, and the Maccabees of old. We celebrate the marvel of the flourishing modern Jewish state.

In Israel, we walk the same paths tread by our patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But we blaze new trails in science, technology, medicine, agriculture. In Israel, the past and the future find common ground. Unfortunately, that is not the case in many other countries. For today, a great battle is being waged between the modern and the medieval.

The forces of modernity seek a bright future in which the rights of all are protected, in which an ever-expanding digital library is available in the palm of every child, in which every life is sacred. The forces of medievalism seek a world in which women and minorities are subjugated, in which knowledge is suppressed, in which not life but death is glorified. These forces clash around the globe, but nowhere more starkly than in the Middle East. Israel stands proudly with the forces of modernity. We protect the rights of all our citizens: men and women, Jews and Arabs, Muslims and Christians – all are equal before the law.

Israel is also making the world a better place: our scientists win Nobel Prizes. Our know-how is in every cell-phone and computer that you’re using. We prevent hunger by irrigating arid lands in Africa and Asia. Recently, I was deeply moved when I visited Technion, one of our technological institutes in Haifa, and I saw a man paralyzed from the waist down climb up a flight of stairs, quite easily, with the aid of an Israeli invention. And Israel’s exceptional creativity is matched by our people’s remarkable compassion. When disaster strikes anywhere in the world – in Haiti, Japan, India, Turkey Indonesia and elsewhere – Israeli doctors are among the first on the scene, performing life-saving surgeries.

In the past year, I lost both my father and my father-in-law. In the same hospital wards where they were treated, Israeli doctors were treating Palestinian Arabs. In fact, every year, thousands of Arabs from the Palestinian territories and Arabs from throughout the Middle East come to Israel to be treated in Israeli hospitals by Israeli doctors. I know you’re not going to hear that from speakers around this podium, but that’s the truth. It’s important that you are aware of this truth. It’s because Israel cherishes life, that Israel cherishes peace and seeks peace. We seek to preserve our historic ties and our historic peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan. We seek to forge a durable peace with the Palestinians.

President Abbas just spoke here. I say to him and I say to you: We won’t solve our conflict with libelous speeches at the UN. That’s not the way to solve it. We won’t solve our conflict with unilateral declarations of statehood. We have to sit together, negotiate together, and reach a mutual compromise, in which a demilitarized Palestinian state recognizes the one and only Jewish State.

Israel wants to see a Middle East of progress and peace. We want to see the three great religions that sprang forth from our region – Judaism, Christianity and Islam – coexist in peace and in mutual respect. Yet the medieval forces of radical Islam, whom you just saw storming the American embassies throughout the Middle East, they oppose this. They seek supremacy over all Muslims. They are bent on world conquest. They want to destroy Israel, Europe, America. They want to extinguish freedom. They want to end the modern world.

Militant Islam has many branches – from the rulers of Iran with their Revolutionary Guards to Al Qaeda terrorists to the radical cells lurking in every part of the globe. But despite their differences, they are all rooted in the same bitter soil of intolerance. That intolerance is directed first at their fellow Muslims, and then to Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, secular people, anyone who doesn’t submit to their unforgiving creed. They want to drag humanity back to an age of unquestioning dogma and unrelenting conflict.

I am sure of one thing. Ultimately they will fail. Ultimately, light will penetrate the darkness. We’ve seen that happen before.

Some five hundred years ago, the printing press helped pry a cloistered Europe out of a dark age. Eventually, ignorance gave way to enlightenment. So too, a cloistered Middle East will eventually yield to the irresistible power of freedom and technology. When this happens, our region will be guided not by fanaticism and conspiracy, but by reason and curiosity.

I think the relevant question is this: it’s not whether this fanaticism will be defeated. It’s how many lives will be lost before it’s defeated. We’ve seen that happen before too.

Some 70 years ago, the world saw another fanatic ideology bent on world conquest. It went down in flames. But not before it took millions of people with it. Those who opposed that fanaticism waited too long to act. In the end they triumphed, but at an horrific cost.

My friends, we cannot let that happen again.

At stake is not merely the future of my own country. At stake is the future of the world. Nothing could imperil our common future more than the arming of Iran with nuclear weapons.

To understand what the world would be like with a nuclear-armed Iran, just imagine the world with a nuclear-armed Al-Qaeda.

It makes no difference whether these lethal weapons are in the hands of the world’s most dangerous terrorist regime or the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization. They’re both fired by the same hatred; they’re both driven by the same lust for violence. Just look at what the Iranian regime has done up till now, without nuclear weapons. In 2009, they brutally put down mass protests for democracy in their own country. Today, their henchmen are participating in the slaughter of tens of thousands of Syrian civilians, including thousands of children, directly participating in this murder. They abetted the killing of American soldiers in Iraq and continue to do so in Afghanistan. Before that, Iranian proxies killed hundreds of American troops in Beirut and in Saudi Arabia. They’ve turned Lebanon and Gaza into terror strongholds, embedding nearly 100,000 missiles and rockets in civilian areas. Thousands of these rockets and missiles have already been fired at Israeli communities by their terrorist proxies. In the last year, they’ve spread their international terror networks to two dozen countries across five continents – from India and Thailand to Kenya and Bulgaria. They’ve even plotted to blow up a restaurant a few blocks from the White House in order to kill a diplomat. And of course, Iran’s rulers repeatedly deny the Holocaust and call for Israel’s destruction almost on a daily basis, as they did again this week from the United Nations.

So I ask you, given this record of Iranian aggression without nuclear weapons, just imagine Iranian aggression with nuclear weapons. Imagine their long range missiles tipped with nuclear warheads, their terror networks armed with atomic bombs. Who among you would feel safe in the Middle East? Who would be safe in Europe? Who would be safe in America? Who would be safe anywhere?

There are those who believe that a nuclear-armed Iran can be deterred like the Soviet Union. That’s a very dangerous assumption. Militant Jihadists behave very differently from secular Marxists. There were no Soviet suicide bombers. Yet Iran produces hordes of them. Deterrence worked with the Soviets, because every time the Soviets faced a choice between their ideology and their survival, they chose their survival. But deterrence may not work with the Iranians once they get nuclear weapons.

There’s a great scholar of the Middle East, Prof. Bernard Lewis, who put it best. He said that for the Ayatollahs of Iran, mutually assured destruction is not a deterrent, it’s an inducement. Iran’s apocalyptic leaders believe that a medieval holy man will reappear in the wake of a devastating Holy War, thereby ensuring that their brand of radical Islam will rule the earth. That’s not just what they believe. That’s what is actually guiding their policies and their actions. Just listen to Ayatollah Rafsanjani who said, I quote: ”The use of even one nuclear bomb inside Israel will destroy everything, however it would only harm the Islamic world.” Rafsanjani said: “It is not irrational to contemplate such an eventuality.”

Not irrational…

And that’s coming from one of the so-called moderates of Iran. Shockingly, some people have begun to peddle the absurd notion that a nuclear-armed Iran would actually stabilize the Middle East.

Yeah, right…

That’s like saying a nuclear-armed Al-Qaeda would usher in an era of universal peace.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I’ve been speaking about the need to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons for over 15 years. I spoke about it in my first term in office as Prime Minister, and then I spoke about it when I left office. I spoke about it when it was fashionable, and I spoke about it when it wasn’t fashionable. I speak about it now because the hour is getting late, very late. I speak about it now because the Iranian nuclear calendar doesn’t take time out for anyone or for anything. I speak about it now because when it comes to the survival of my country, it’s not only my right to speak; it’s my duty to speak. And I believe that this is the duty of every responsible leader who wants to preserve world peace.

For nearly a decade, the international community has tried to stop the Iranian nuclear program with diplomacy. That hasn’t worked. Iran uses diplomatic negotiations as a means to buy time to advance its nuclear program. For over seven years, the international community has tried sanctions with Iran. Under the leadership of President Obama, the international community has passed some of the strongest sanctions to date.

I want to thank the governments represented here that have joined in this effort. It’s had an effect. Oil exports have been curbed and the Iranian economy has been hit hard. It’s had an effect on the economy, but we must face the truth. Sanctions have not stopped Iran’s nuclear program either. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, during the last year alone, Iran has doubled the number of centrifuges in its underground nuclear facility in Qom. At this late hour, there is only one way to peacefully prevent Iran from getting atomic bombs. That’s by placing a clear red line on Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

Red lines don’t lead to war; red lines prevent war.

Look at NATO’s charter: it made clear that an attack on one member country would be considered an attack on all. NATO’s red line helped keep the peace in Europe for nearly half a century. President Kennedy set a red line during the Cuban Missile Crisis. That red line also prevented war and helped preserve the peace for decades.

In fact, it’s the failure to place red lines that has often invited aggression.

If the Western powers had drawn clear red lines during the 1930s, I believe they would have stopped Nazi aggression and World War II might have been avoided. In 1990, if Saddam Hussein had been clearly told that his conquest of Kuwait would cross a red line, the first Gulf War might have been avoided.

Clear red lines have also worked with Iran.

Earlier this year, Iran threatened to close the Straits of Hormouz. The United States drew a clear red line and Iran backed off. Red lines could be drawn in different parts of Iran’s nuclear weapons program. But to be credible, a red line must be drawn first and foremost in one vital part of their program: on Iran’s efforts to enrich uranium.

Now let me explain why: Basically, any bomb consists of explosive material and a mechanism to ignite it. The simplest example is gunpowder and a fuse. That is, you light the fuse and set off the gunpowder. In the case of Iran’s plans to build a nuclear weapon, the gunpowder is enriched uranium. The fuse is a nuclear detonator. For Iran, amassing enough enriched uranium is far more difficult than producing the nuclear fuse. For a country like Iran, it takes many, many years to enrich uranium for a bomb. That requires thousands of centrifuges spinning in tandem in very big industrial plants. Those Iranian plants are visible and they’re still vulnerable. In contrast, Iran could produce the nuclear detonator – the fuse – in a lot less time, maybe under a year, maybe only a few months. The detonator can be made in a small workshop the size of a classroom. It may be very difficult to find and target that workshop, especially in Iran. That’s a country that’s bigger than France, Germany, Italy and Britain combined. The same is true for the small facility in which they could assemble a warhead or a nuclear device that could be placed in a container ship. Chances are you won’t find that facility either. So in fact the only way that you can credibly prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, is to prevent Iran from amassing enough enriched uranium for a bomb.

So, how much enriched uranium do you need for a bomb? And how close is Iran to getting it?

Let me show you. I brought a diagram for you. Here’s the diagram.

This is a bomb; this is a fuse.

In the case of Iran’s nuclear plans to build a bomb, this bomb has to be filled with enough enriched uranium. And Iran has to go through three stages.

The first stage: they have to enrich enough of low enriched uranium.

The second stage: they have to enrich enough medium enriched uranium.

And the third stage and final stage: they have to enrich enough high enriched uranium for the first bomb.

Where’s Iran? Iran’s completed the first stage. It took them many years, but they completed it and they’re 70% of the way there. Now they are well into the second stage. By next spring, at most by next summer at current enrichment rates, they will have finished the medium enrichment and move on to the final stage. From there, it’s only a few months, possibly a few weeks before they get enough enriched uranium for the first bomb.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

What I told you now is not based on secret information. It’s not based on military intelligence. It’s based on public reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Anybody can read them. They’re online. So if these are the facts, and they are, where should the red line be drawn? The red line should be drawn right here (just below the Final Stage before end of 2nd Stage)

Before Iran completes the second stage of nuclear enrichment necessary to make a bomb.

Before Iran gets to a point where it’s a few months away or a few weeks away from amassing enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear weapon.

Each day, that point is getting closer. That’s why I speak today with such a sense of urgency. And that’s why everyone should have a sense of urgency.

Some who claim that even if Iran completes the enrichment process, even if it crosses that red line that I just drew, our intelligence agencies will know when and where Iran will make the fuse, assemble the bomb, and prepare the warhead. Look, no one appreciats our intelligence agencies more than the Prime Minister of Israel. All these leading intelligence agencies are superb, including ours. They’ve foiled many attacks. They’ve saved many lives.

But they are not foolproof.

For over two years, our intelligence agencies didn’t know that Iran was building a huge nuclear enrichment plant under a mountain. Do we want to risk the security of the world on the assumption that we would find in time a small workshop in a country half the size of Europe?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The relevant question is not - when Iran will get the bomb? The relevant question is - at what stage can we no longer stop Iran from getting the bomb?

The red line must be drawn on Iran’s nuclear enrichment program because these enrichment facilities are the only nuclear installations that we can definitely see and credibly target. I believe that faced with a clear red line, Iran will back down. This will give more time for sanctions and diplomacy to convince Iran to dismantle its nuclear weapons program altogether.

Two days ago, from this podium, President Obama reiterated that the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran cannot be contained. I very much appreciate the President’s position as does everyone in my country. We share the goal of stopping Iran’s nuclear weapons program. This goal unites the people of Israel. It unites Americans, Democrats and Republicans alike and it is shared by important leaders throughout the world. What I have said today will help ensure that this common goal is achieved. Israel is in discussions with the United States over this issue, and I am confident that we can chart a path forward together.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The clash between modernity and medievalism need not be a clash between progress and tradition. The traditions of the Jewish people go back thousands of years. They are the source of our collective values and the foundation of our national strength. At the same time, the Jewish people have always looked towards the future. Throughout history, we have been at the forefront of efforts to expand liberty, promote equality, and advance human rights. We champion these principles not despite of our traditions but because of them. We heed the words of the Jewish prophets Isaiah, Amos, and Jeremiah to treat all with dignity and compassion, to pursue justice and cherish life and to pray and strive for peace. These are the timeless values of my people and these are the Jewish people’s greatest gift to mankind.

Let us commit ourselves today to defend these values so that we can defend our freedom and protect our common civilization.

Thank you.
